Kindergarten students need amples amount of free play. Its how they do their best learning. See here for ideas on what play looks like in a Kindergarten classroom. We typically designate 1 hour per day.

What is the weather like today? What day is it? How many days have we been doing distance learning?  

 

Language avec Mme Giugliani 

We have finished the alphabet. Now we are starting SOUNDS (Les sons).  

 

There will be 3 sounds a week to work on. I have uploaded a video for each sound, the worksheet from the video, and an activity for each sound.  

 

This is what you will do for each sound

-Complete the worksheet in the video (trace the sound, and write the missing letters)  

Complete the extra sound worksheet  

 

The worksheets from the videos, and the extra worksheets are all in this file here.  (There is no extra worksheet for “ç”, we will do that next week when we learn the other sound for “c”. )

You can print them or view them at the beginning of the week, then complete one sound a day. (Monday-Wednesday)  

 

Do what you can! I would like a video of your child practicing 1 of the sounds from the week.

No math activity this week because we are starting a new system for language, and I want to give you time to get used to it.

Les syllables: 

  • Watch this video about syllables 
  • Sort as many words as you can into groups of one syllable words and two syllables words. Here is the worksheet. Upload a picture of your worksheet on FreshGrade
  • Optional: Video of some 2 syllable words you find at home. 

What new words did you learn? 

 

How many words are 1- word syllables in the list? 2 -word syllables? How did you know?

Rhymes

Listen to Mme Jenny’s rhyming words lesson

Here are the list of words separately if you want to practice cutting them out and putting them together. 

Optional: Make a video like this to show how many rhyming pairs you can find at home. Here is an example. 

And don’t forget to write in your journals 2 sentences or more of rhyming words. Show Mme Jenny and Mme Marando on Freshgrade if you like.  

Can you write 2 rhyming words in your journal? 

 

Can you make 2 sentences that rhyme using sentence starters such as Cest, Voici J’aime or il y a?

Watch this video to find out the mystery from yesterday’s lesson.

Show Abeille Solitaire what you know about “le cycle de vie d’une plante”! Download this worksheet. Cut out the pieces and put them in order on a different piece of paper or  on your table and take a photo. You can alternatively show us all the steps using real life materials from your backyard or garden. 

All living things have a life cycle and all living things are connected. How are bees and other pollinators connected to plants? Feel free to send Mme. Marando a video sharing what you know!

Exploring our neighbourhood: 

With a parents help, hunt for solidarity bees. Don’t worry, they are friendly unless you are mean to them.  

How many of their homes can you find on the ground? 

How can I explore and have fun outside and stay safe? (social distancing, not using playground equipment, etc. )
