What We’ve Been Up To! January 20, 2023

Hello Division 15 families,

This week has definitely been an exciting one! This week our main theme was Lunar New Year (commonly known as Chinese New Year).

We had rich discussions over this holiday and the celebrations we might see in our community. We found out that most of us are Roosters! (This is also the only time of year that saying, “Ms. Elhalhuli is a Pig!” will not get them in trouble. Haha!) We also discussed how other countries celebrate Lunar New Year as well. A big thank you to Olivia’s family for sharing how their family celebrates Lunar New Year in the Philippines and South Korea. Our class created Chinese lanterns and decorated traditional Korean Hanboks with bright colors to welcome a prosperous New Year.

Literacy:

We are learning a new alphabet routine this term as we are now focusing on printing. We also are learning a song for every letter of the alphabet (The Alphabet Rap). The letter worksheets are sent home as they are completed. It would be great to check-in with their quality of work and continue practicing printing using the guidelines.

Regards,

Ms. E
