What We’ve Been Up To! February 21, 2023

Hello Division 15 families,

I hope you all had a restful long weekend!

The last few week was packed with lots of themes to explore in our class.

We first talked about love, and we all agree that we love… LOVE! We talked about things that we love and created the good copies of our Heart Maps. They turned out amazing!

We then talked about what it is to be kind and how words and actions can impact others in good ways and in bad ways. We read The Wrinkled Heart and discussed how words and actions can affect others positively and negatively. I will link a read aloud here in case any parents would like to read the story at home! The story came with a wrinkled heart activity to show how some words can wrinkle a heart and how some can “unwrinkle” a heart.

“Before you speak, think and be smart, it’s hard to fix a wrinkled heart.”

We then talked about family. We read The Family Book by Todd Parr to learn how every family is and looks different. We learned the terms we use for family members: mom, dad, brother, sister, grandma, grandpa, step-______, and many others! We then drew our families and described them! Just in time for Family Day.

Regards,

Ms. Elhalhuli
