What We’ve Been Up To! (December 15, 2022)

Hello Division 15 families!

The past two weeks have been festive and full of fun. I hope you enjoyed the presents the kids made for their families.

We talked about some of the major holidays celebrated in December, such as Christmas, Hannukah, and Kwanza. We had a great discussion about identity and the connections between all the holidays we learned about so far! I am so happy to have such a diverse classroom.

If you were wondering why our classroom smells like shaving cream… we did a lot of snow art by making Puffy Paint! We did it by mixing shaving cream, glitter, and liquid glue, it was a very popular activity. Here is what we made for Art and the door competition.

We were also visited by an Elf on the Shelf! Manuela picked a name for our elf: Bella.

Bella has been keeping an eye on who is naughty and who is nice and reports to Santa after school every day! Our class fell in love with Bella, I wish she could stay here all year! (haha). Currently Bella has been taken by the Grinch… so we will have to go find her tomorrow using his clues!

We also talked about how the holiday season is a season for giving. We created bookmarks for our Big Buddies, and in return they gave us beautiful knitted hat ornaments. I hope the kids have opportunities to spread love and cheer this winter break.

Have a well deserved break everyone! Stay safe and have fun!

Love, Ms. Elhalhuli
