Strandbeests and Catapults
Today’s maker challenge is to build a catapult. A catapult is machine that is used to throw objects. Can you build a catapult using recycled objects and other items that you find in your house? I have listed some links below that might give you some design inspiration but you can also come up with your own design depending on the materials that you have around your house.
If you have time, you can watch this video that shows an artist named Theo Jansen’s amazing creations that he calls Strandbeests. They are absolutely incredible. He definitely loves making things.
Since the podcast today is about a robotic eel, I chose a book about a mechanical fish. It is called Papa’s Mechanical Fish by Candace Fleming and illustrated by Boris Kulikov.
