Activity 3 Gratitude Poster/Sign
Please make a sign to share a message of gratitude for health care workers and/or essential service workers. You may choose to hang this on your window or find another place to display it. The purpose of this learning task is to share our thanks and show our appreciation for those who are keeping our community safe and healthy!
Task:
- With parents or siblings, brainstorm who is working in our community right now and what jobs are considered essential services
- Write down a list of these jobs
- Use any supplies you have at home (paper, crayons, pencils, markers, paint, etc.) to create a sign or poster
- Write words of gratitude/appreciation/thanks directed at health care or essential services workers
- Draw colourful pictures and images to go with your writing
- Remind your child to make their writing big and bold if they want people to see it from the window
Activity 4 Shape Hunt
Task:
- Brainstorm with your child the different types of shapes that there are (circle, square, triangle, cube, sphere, etc.)
- Talk about 2D shapes (shape that is flat) and 3D shapes (3 dimensional and can move through space)
- Go around the house and find any shapes that you can see
- Discuss if it is a 2D shape or 3D shape. Think about what makes them different (number of sides, numbers of corners, etc.)
- Take a picture of some of the shapes in your house
