3. High and Low Sounds

One of the concepts we learn in Kindergarten and grade 1 is the difference between high and low sounds. After watching the video below, try one of these activities this week as a family:

a) Try to find things in your house or outside in the yard that make high and low sounds. You could just list them verbally or you could make a chart. To make a chart, divide a paper or poster paper in half with a line. Draw pictures or cut out pictures from magazines of things that make high sounds on one side and low sounds on the other side. If they make medium sounds, you could put them in the middle!

b) Another great activity is to test each member of the household. List who can make the highest sounds and who can make the lowest sounds and where everyone is in between. Have the children notice the size or gender of the person making the higher sounds and lower sounds. (Smaller things/people/animals tend to make higher sounds and bigger things/people/animals) tend to make lower sounds.)

4. EASTER Activities:

There are some fun Easter activities to try on MusicPlay – go to ONLINE LEARNING and click on Grade 1, Lesson 4.

Try the Poison Melody game – super fun! Also try singing along with “Hurry Easter Bunny” and then get moving your body with “Bunny Rabbit Boogie”!
