Activity #1:  Play Kahoot!

This is a self-paced challenge to answer 20 questions based on ideas we have been exploring since January – music notation, note names, rhythmic values, and instruments of the orchestra. You have until Friday, May 29th noon to play, and you can play as many times as you like to improve your score. It is not a timed game, but you do earn points for speed as well as accuracy. You can use your own name or create a musical nickname for yourself so only you know who you are! You can play on any device such as computers, tablets, iPads or smartphones.

See how many points you can win by testing your knowledge of note names, rhythms, instruments of the orchestra, and more!  Click here to play Kahoot:

Activity #2:  Type Drummer

            Go to www.typedrummer.com

Here’s an activity that I think you’ll enjoy and find super easy. I had lots of fun playing with it myself!

Each key (or letter) on your keyboard has a different sound (sample).

Type different combinations of letters or words into the box to create beats. The program will automatically loop back to the beginning and repeat your pattern.

When you find a beat you like, sing a song you know over top,
or better yet, write your own song!

PRO TIP – Most pop, rock and North American/European
folk music is in 4/4 time so try using a multiple of 4
(eg. 4, 8, 12, etc.) characters to make a beat that
would fit with popular music or other songs you may already know.

See what happens when you put spaces in! Does it change the beat?

I’d love to hear your beats! Take a video or share your beats with me by
emailing me a link from the website.
