Writing Activity #6

“3 – Part Fiction Story”

** Please read the instructions carefully – Students will be sharing their “Fiction stories” at the next class Zoom meeting! ***

At school we were beginning to study the beginning, middle, and end parts of a story. In term 3 we were going to practice writing stories with a beginning, middle and end.

We had also briefly began learning about the difference between “fiction” and “non-fiction” stories, and we were planning to expand on this in term 3. We were going to begin working more on our “fiction” writing, by learning to use our creativity skills to write stories that are about fictional characters, fictional places and fictional story lines.

Unfortunately, we did not get a chance to delve into this further, however, I have put up some resources and an activity, to have students begin some “fiction” writing at home!

Please click to enlarge the picture to learn about the difference between “Fiction and Non-Fiction stories. Please look over the document with your child and discuss what you see.

Task # 5: Acrostic Poem

An Acrostic Poem” is a poem where certain letters in each line spell out a word or phrase.

We are going to write an “Acrostic Poem” using our names! Each letter in our name will be used to describe something about us!

Example: Ms. Yaz

M:  Mindful

S:   Silly

Y:   Young 😉

A:   Awesome

Z:   Zappy

Activity:

  • Write an Acrostic Poem using your name.
  • Try your best to come up with one word for each of the letters of your name to describe something about you.
  • If you cannot find a word for all the letters of your name that is ok. Do your best! Try to fill in as many letters as you can!

Here is a few more examples of “Acrostic Poems”
