What is This?
Did you go for your Nature Walk yesterday? We went for a walk around the school and into the gold forest. We found some new creatures. Noah found that if he put his clipboard on the ground in the upper field lots of little tiny red bugs would jump onto his page. Today, I learned that those bugs are called clover mites. Roman discovered this interesting creature in the gold forest? Does anyone recognize it? I wonder what it is. I was going to put a P.E. lesson on the weekly schedule for today but it is so beautiful outside that I am going to leave it up to you…

More Money and More Chapters of the Class Story
Today’ money was created by Noah, Roman, and Braeden. What would you buy with an ‘Infinity’ bill? A few more chapters have been added to the story since the last time that it was posted on the blog. If you want to read the latest chapters of the story, you can find them here. It looks like you might have some sunshine for your nature walk today. I wonder what kinds of creatures you will find on your walk. Today’s story is about one of those creatures, the dragonfly. The book is called Are You A Dragonfly?. It is written by Judy Allen and illustrated by Tudor Humphries. Enjoy…

Happy Birthday Mateo!
Division 8 would like to wish a big Happy Birthday to Mateo. We hope that you have a great day. Our last birthday of the school year needs a birthday story so here is Moira’s Birthday written by Robert Munsch and illustrated by Micheal Martchenko. Mateo definitely wouldn’t be able to invite the whole school to his house today for a party like Moira does in the book but we hope that he will find other fun ways to celebrate his day.

Money and Dominoes
Good Morning! Our first group of bills are from Elissa, Gustavo, Melody, and Hayley. Some students had time to make both sides of their bill. Hayley used the back of her bill to show herself picking up litter which is what she would like to be known for someday. Instead of a story today, I have a short video of an incredible domino creation. Imagine how much patience and perseverance it took to set up these dominoes. Have a great weekend. If you are joining us for the zoom call, we will see you at 9:30.

Landscape Art
Today’s artists are Theia and Raphael. They both made landscape paintings. Tomorrow, I will post pictures of the money that you made. I am still hoping to hear from many of you about your learning this term. If you have not finished your learning self-assessment and your Creativity Core Competency, it would be great if you could find the time to do that by the end of the week. I found another story about money for today. This story is about saving your money for something special. It is called A Chair For My Mother by Vera B. Williams.

Show Me the Money
Did you get out for a walk for nature school yesterday? We went into the gold forest and played in the rain. We found out that it can be really challenging to climb a wet, mossy rock while wearing rainboots. We also found this amazing stump covered in fungus. I think that it is a type of polypore fungus that people like to call a turkey tail fungus. Today, you are going to finish up some writing if you have not already finished it. I am hoping that you can finish your self-assessment for your report card and your core competency for creativity. We worked on these in the classroom…

Check the Forecast
Today’s collage is from Melody. Isn’t it great how they are all so different? I hope that you had fun making some money yesterday. It is interesting to look closely at the different bills to see how many pictures and designs are on each of them. Since we are planning to head out for nature school on a rainy day, here is a book about weather for storytime. It is called Fly Guy Presents Weather by Tedd Arnold. Maybe you can check the weather and decide what would be the best time to go for a walk today.

It’s Money Week!
Thank you to Elissa for volunteering to have her wonderful collage on the blog today. This week is Money Week! Today, you are going to make money in art, write about money in language arts, and learn about coins in math. I want to thank all of you who showed us some of the money that you have at home in our last zoom meeting. For storytime today, you can listen to Alexander, Who Used To Be Rich Last Sunday, written by Judith Viorst and illustrated by Ray Cruz.

How to Code a Sandcastle
Today’s collage artist is Theia. One of my favourite things about the Division 8 collages is that everyone used different materials that they found around their homes. Notice, how Theia used an old C.D. for her collage. Since we have been thinking about coding this week, I thought that you might like to hear this story called How to Code a Sandcastle written by Josh Funk and illustrated by Sara Palacios. Have a great weekend!

What Will Your Family Robot Do Today?
We have another fantastic collage today. This time our artist is Raphael. Tomorrow, it will be Theia. I flipped a coin and Raphael got to go first. Today, you are going to try to code a human at home. Find a family member who would like to be a robot today. Please remind your robot that they should only respond to very specific commands and they can only say “please repeat” or “do not understand”. Try not to get too frustrated, it is a really difficult job to code a robot. Some of you found out how hard it is to code a human when you tried to get me…
