I hope that you had a good first day of Maker Week. I am having lots of fun trying to find videos and stories to fit this theme. I found a video for today that shows a lego machine that someone designed and built. The machine folds paper airplanes. Take a look at the video to see the machine and how it works. Today’s story is about an artist named Alexander Calder. Calder is famous for his mobiles and his sculptures. I included some of his art in the picture with this post. He also loved to make things out of wire. He made an entire circus show out of wire. The book is called Sandy’s Circus. It is written by Tanya Lee Stone and it is illustrated by Boris Kulikov.

During Centres today, you might want to try this Maker Challenge: Build a tower using your recycled items. Your tower should be able to hold your favourite stuffy on top. What is the tallest recycling tower that you can make that is able to hold a stuffy on top? Can you make a tower that is taller than you?
