Monday May 4

Hope you all had a good weekend. The weather was odd! One hour it was pouring and then the other hour was sunny! Hopefully you were able to catch some sunlight!

Here’s today’s schedule:

For math, both grades have 1 new lesson. I will no longer be posting links to math lessons on Teams. Instead, tutorials will be posted here on the class blog and also sent to your @edu.burnabyschools.ca email.

  • Grade 4: No tutorial video. However, this image (click here) will help you on your assignment.
  • Grade 5: Tutorial Video: Click here. KEY POINT: parallel sides means the distance between them never change and always go towards the same direction.

For ELA, you will be reading about tropical rainforests. It is a different reading that goes more in-depth. Please read and then answer the response questions on the bottom. On Thursday, you will be reading about temperate rainforests and will need to compare and contrast the two types of forests, so my suggestion would be to print this reading out (if possible) and highlight KEY things that make this rainforest a tropical one.

Your last task of the day is to explore Ms. Ho’s website. Click here to access it. On Teams, there’s an assignment where you will tell me something on the website that you like and why you might want to try it. The website’s home page is still in construction but please click on the menu tabs that read “audio and ebooks/ read alouds/ games”.

See you on Teams!… and watch this when you have a break! https://youtu.be/vgo1vFvXHAw

Friday May 1

Welcome to May! Hopefully we’ll see lots of May flowers! Thanks for a wonderful class meeting yesterday! Congratulations to Neveah for winning many virtual emojis in our group chat through our mini scavenger hunt! We’ll have our next class meeting on Tuesday at 10:30am and then on Thursday at 2:00pm where we’ll play another game!

Today will be a lighter day. Thank you for your feedback through our small group check-ins. Because of your input, I now have a better understanding of our strengths and stretches of our e-Learning classroom. Today will be a good time for you to catch-up on any work that you are behind in.

For today, please work on the following in the following order.

Start your scavenger hunt. It is purposely made to be confusing. You will have to go between this class blog, your email, and Teams. I like to eat fruits. Click here to see the fruit.

Please work on any work that is not yet finished. This can be SS, Science, Math, or any other ELA poetry assignment.

For current events, please read an article about how some provinces in Canada are set to allow students back to school. Please make sure to post your response in the appropriate channel.

For art, please check for detailed instructions in the assignments tab on Teams. This week and next week’s art will be self-guided so that you can make something special for special people in your lives.

Please continue typing and practicing your French! As mentioned during our class meeting yesterday, make sure to check out Ms. Ho’s library blog where she has great reading material (all free!) Click here to access her blog.

I will be checking in with many of you in small groups today. Hope to see you all on Teams today!
