HAPPY FATHER’S DAY

Father’s Day is a great day to spend time with your father.  Although my family doesn’t really celebrate any holidays, even Father’s or Mother’s Day, this year I still did something special for my father.
Although this year was quite different from others, it did stop me from making my dad a gift, I noticed when I was short on supplies because I didn’t have any at home to make the gift, I eventually found replacements for some of the items. So, what gift did I make? I made a quite fascinating bag that looked like a tie with candy in it, I also tried making a pull-out card for my dad, which was great because now I know how to make these things.
I just want to say, HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!!!

Father’s Day

Father’s Day just felt just as another day as family time, but in ways it’s different and special. Even if it’s a simple day or a special day it’s always different and that’s what makes it unique. My father is usually always busy with work trying to support his family, I mean anything for family right? We try and make our family happy, have fun, just trying and live life to the fullest, and that’s what I’m guessing my father is trying to do. Father’s Day is the day where you can thank your father or “father” figure for how much time and effort they put in making you happy.

This is how I was able to use my strengths to contribute to my family. I was able to create a little pocket thing that was shaped as a tie filled with these tiny chocolates that you could bring to work as a sweet boost. To create that you would have to sew the plastic bag that you cut out like a tie, which to me was hard because you needed it to be the shape like you paper cut out and also the sewing. I also made a card that had a acrostic poem inside and it also ended with a question “What about me makes you proud?” My father went out early in the morning for work so we just made brunch for him with his favorite food such as bacon. The brunch consisted of rice, egg, bacon, sliced up apples and cucumbers which to my surprise was pretty simple, but also tasted delicious.

We can have the most simple meal on earth, but what makes it really special are the people around you or who you share it with. Yes, something might be hard to do like for me making the gift and cooking, but at the end of the day it was all worth it. You can see all your hard work paying off as you can tell how happy the person is. All I want is for my father to be happy on Father’s Day.

Here’s what I created for Father’s Day as a gift.

ooops… we can’t figure out how to add a pic… Is a pic even allowed!?

Mother’s Day

On Mother’s Day I used my strengths to cook her breakfast and dinner. My Mother’s Day started with my sister yelling so I could come downstairs so i could cook. For breakfast we cooked bacon, egg, muffin, hash browns, and a yogurt bowl. After breakfast we played cards and I lost every round. For dinner I made mash potato and steak and salad.

It’s Quite Different

Although my family is special in a way that my mother is currently absent and does not live with me, I got through mother’s day just like any other normal day for me. This might bring you the question: what did i even do on Mother’s day? Well the truth is I didn’t do anything special for my mother on Mother’s day, but I did celebrate it kind of like grandparents day with my grandmother, although I didn’t craft her anything or did anything too special, she thought it was very kind and respectful for me to write a letter for her and even though it was done in a rush she gave me a big hug after what I have wrote to her and that is how I have contributed in my family on Mother’s day.

A Day to Celebrate Africa and It’s People

Happy Africa Day

May 25th is a day to celebrate the wonder and beauty of Mother Africa. Africa is home to 1.216 billion people. Africa is the second biggest continent in the world. I found this very surprising.

I come from Africa and yet I am still in awe of it’s beauty. This beautiful continent has a variety of natural wildlife, most of it which can only be found on the continent. It is home to different cultures and traditions and is the #1 place to go to for an exclusive tour. Africa is filled with beautiful wild animals such as the African elephant, white rhinoceros, zebra, and giraffe.

The original name of this continent was, Alkebulan, which means “mother of mankind” or “garden of Eden”

Africa day was made to celebrate the OAU (Organization of African Union) in 1963. On the 25th of May 1963, leaders from 32 African Nations converged in Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa, to form the OAU. The OAU was created to help bring change and freedom to many African countries.

This holiday is celebrated by various countries on the continent of Africa, as well as some places around the world.

On this very day, we will love, cherish, and honor the beautiful continent we know as Africa.

An epic Mother’s Day

This is how I was able to use my strengths to contribute to my family on Mother’s Day.
I tried something new and made origami roses for my mother. I wanted to show my mother how much I cared for her so i made her a bunch of paper roses and put them in a box with one huge rose in the middle. I also made a little box and drew a picture of a heart rose for my mom. She seemed very happy about it. We also laughed and joked around about past memories. Later that day we listened to the birds outside sing. My mom also told me about how her and her father would listen to the birds for hours and be the happiest people alive. I hope my mom knows how much she means to me.

We Walk For Water 2019

https://www.we.org/we-schools/program/campaigns/we-walk-for-water/

We helped turn clean water on for people around the world.

Clean water is the fastest way to change a life. When communities gain access to clean water, young girls can go to school, and the health of the entire community improves. You can help create this ripple effect of change. Walk, fundraise, or donate and turn clean water on!

Awesome grade 7 students in Me to We walked for water with milk jugs or pails.  The event happened on a sunny, hot Thursday of May 23rd, 2019 during their lunchtime.  Each of them committed to collecting $25 in pledges.  Twenty-five dollars gives one person water for life.

  1.  I am proud of this because…
  2. Something new that I learned and understand better…
  3. My biggest challenge was…
  4. I still have questions and uncertainties about…
  5. How much money did you raise towards your goal of $25?
  6. Why are you grateful for access to clean water?  How would your life be different if you didn’t have access to clean water?
  7. How will your actions create an impact in developing communities around the world?
