Our Plasticine Paintings 2023

VIDEO:  Making plasticine pictures with Barbara Reid   YouTube 7:20

Barbara Reid illustrates all her books with plasticine.

Hello,

Plasticine paintings are incredible and so fun to look at, not to mention inspiring.

Plasticine (also called modelling clay) works especially well for kids because it’s a forgiving medium. You don’t have to be great with fine motor skills or details.  It’s movable and moldable and kids are not intimidated by it!

Students were instructed to come up with a SPRING THEME.

How do you get these amazing results?

  • begin with the background
  • then add on top of it; this becomes your foreground
  • blend colours
  • add texture
