HAVE A GREAT SUMMER!

Hello Everybody!

I am so thankful for our time together.  Thank you for coming in to pick up your child’s report card, return library books, return chin bucks, cloth re-usable Words Their Way Bags, and for some, bringing your child to come say ‘goodbye’.  For those of you who ordered t-shirts, you would have received your t-shirts!  They look great!

Thank you to everybody for working together, your lovely cards and the gift of your child for me to teach.  I am forever grateful for our time together!

Again Happy Summer Birthdays to Valerio (July 26th), Breanna (August 9th) and Katie (August 14th)!

Week of June 15th – 19th

Hello Everyone,

This week we have continued on with our theme of addressing diversity but also the importance of using our words and standing up for what we know is right.

We will have our last class zoom session Wednesday at 11:00am.  We hope everyone can join us!

Next Thursday, there is a time that will be designated for you to come and to come and pick up your child’s supplies and report card (please feel free to bring your child as I would love to get to wish them a happy summer). Please see Mrs. Kimmie’s email.  Please bring back any home reading books, library books and chin bucks. I have prepared treats / prizes from the Chin store for each child.  Thank you in advance for returning the chin bucks to school.

We will start with Kathryn Otoshi’s book One. This is a book that should be familiar as I have read it in class.  We have this book in our class library and also our Montecito Library. It is  about colours and numbers but also  about accepting each other’s differences and how it sometimes just takes one voice to make everyone count. After listening to the story discuss with your child what it means to count – to feel like you have value. What does it mean to value others? What does that look like and sound like?

This week, please listen to Colour of Me Song from a few friends from Sesame Street. What is the colour of ‘you’? Look closely at your own skin. What does its colour remind you of? Whatever colour you are, be proud and sing along. Our differences are what makes the world beautiful.
