During this busy week, we jumped and got our heart rate up at the Jump Rope for Heart event. We aged a bit 😂 and counted 100 things, then ended the week with a Valentine’s Day party.

Students worked on designing different types of lines inside and outside their hearts with oil pastels. After, they painted with watercolour. The hearts are displayed in our classroom walls and on the windows of our classroom!

We are getting to the end of our light unit and today we explored with flashlights!
Students looked for objects that completely blocked the light, objects that let all the light go through and objects that were translucent. Then we used prisms to try and see a rainbow. Lastly, we opened our puppet shadow theatre and students started taking turns creating and telling stories.

We had an amazing time at the aquarium today!!
We shared our favourite part of the day back at school and I heard lots about seeing the sharks, touching the jelly fish, watching the 4D movie and seeing the axolotls.
Thank you to all families who came and helped out, it went so smoothly and it was great to see the kids enjoying all the different parts of the aquarium!

Well…we made shape pizza!
Students made their own crust and sauce and added all the toppings. There were creative pizzas there!

We are learning about light in Science. We learned about natural and artificial sources of light. We learned that solid objects make a shadow, and some translucent objects create “see through” shadows. We took advantage of the sunshine to explore the shadows outside. We found the source of light (the sun), made poses and had a partner trace our shadow. It was a fun way to take Science outdoors!

Today we learned about the American artist Alma Thomas and her colourful abstract art. The colours of nature inspired her art.
Our class carefully worked on creating concentric circles.
Take a look at our artist working on their paintings and some of their finished pieces.

This week, Alpha leadership students came to our class and prepared a hibernation activity. They read a book called Over and Under the Snow and then students had to cut and glue 4 animals (rabbit, snake, bear and squirrel) and where they would hibernate (den, tree, underground).
The students were engaged and enjoyed the big buddies!

We had so much fun at the pancake breakfast! Thank you for everyone who helped to make it happen!
