We walked around the school to look for natural and man-made structures and places in our community. Students had a lot of fun looking for them, finding and recording the information.

This week we did a paint print using paper plates to create an image of Earth. We talked about ways we can help to keep Earth and our community a great place to live, learn and play.
Check out division 18’s unique Earth prints below.

We have been learning about communities in social Studies. We learned about rural, urban and suburban communities. We also learned about places in the community and community helpers.
The students brainstormed places in the community and together created a mural. We have an urban area with sky scrapers, a mall, a hospital, school, lots of houses and a park, an airport, a train station, a farm and some cars on the road!

We have been learning to measure things with non-standard units in Math. Students are practicing to estimate and measure a variety of things using paper clips, unifix cubes and straws.

Here are the adorable Easter bunnies and eggs. Students carefully drew the shape and made a design. Later they painted them with watercolour.
The first snow day of the season was welcomed by our class with joy and the feeling of “it finally happened!”
It was a very exciting recess to say the least!

Your child might it have brought home a paper towel creation this week. Inspired by the book The Most Magnificent Idea and new items to explore, many students were inspired to create things with the rolls and tape!

During this busy week, we jumped and got our heart rate up at the Jump Rope for Heart event. We aged a bit 😂 and counted 100 things, then ended the week with a Valentine’s Day party.

Students worked on designing different types of lines inside and outside their hearts with oil pastels. After, they painted with watercolour. The hearts are displayed in our classroom walls and on the windows of our classroom!
