Lynn Canyon field trip

We lucked out with the weather and had an amazing field trip today!!
We enjoyed looking at all the animals and plants I aide the ecology center, it was super cool! We had a nature walk in which we collected living things from the forest and the river and then looked at them under the microscope. We had lunch outside and met the park rangers for a talk about their job and how they keep Lynn Canyon safe.
Overall we had a great day and learned a lot about living things in the forest ecosystem.

Outdoor Wednesday

This week we gathered nature items in small groups to sort and then graph the items. Students got to use their math skills to create a graph. They had to name the graph and be able to tell us two things their graph was showing.
Here are some examples:

Spring tree collage

Today we worked together creating art to make a spring tree. We had sponged papers last week and today, as individuals and small groups, students created a variety of items to add to the tree by cutting and glueing papers. Our tree looks beautiful 🤩  The students were creative and worked collaboratively!

Nature mandalas

Today for our outdoor Wednesday theme we gathered items and created mandalas in small groups along with division 17. We discussed how mandalas needed to have a center, be round, have colour/patterns, and be symmetrical. We walked around the perimeter of the school block and created them at the magic forest. Check out their cool work!
