Abstract art

This week we learned about the artist Henry Kandinsky and how music played a big role in his abstract art. We created art with paint sticks and watercolour inspired by his art piece called Concentric Circles.

Stuffies at school

The Stuffies sure had a busy day!! They came along with pajama day for the music party with Mrs. Seah but they followed along our day in the classroom and even did some work!! They did mindful breathing, daily 5, early bird work, reading, played and even had lunch!

Art inspired by Alma Thomas

This week for black excellence day we learned about the artist Alma Thomas. She was an art teacher in the U.S. and advocated for art in the black community. She later became an artist herself and was the first African American female artist to have a solo art exhibition in a museum. Colours of nature inspired her abstract art.

Here are photos of our class creating abstract arr with paint sticks inspired by colours in nature that brings us joy.

Winter trees

This week we created winter trees at sunset. Students chose to draw evergreen or bare winter trees with oil pastels and then painted the background with watercolour. Here are some pictures that captured students working and then completed art work.

Snow

First snowfall of the year! ❄️
The kids have been talking about snow since the beginning of December so it was only fair we went outside when it started to snow as their level of excitement was high!
