Students have been playing a lot of Ultimate, an exciting team sport played with a flying disc. Before playing the game. they learned and practiced the proper technique for making a backhand and forehand pass. They also practiced using the pancake method for catching the frisbee. Next, students learned and practiced defense by being a, “mark” and trying to block a pass.

One of the best aspects of ultimate is the, “Spirit of the Game”. There are no referees, so the players are responsible for following and enforcing the rules and the emphasis is always on fun ahead of winning. At the end of each game, we played a variety of activities emphasizing fair play, honesty and good fun. This has often been the most popular part of the PE class.
