Remembrance Day!

IMG_0658Today, November 11, is an important day.  Hope you all remembered to do a minute of silence to honour and remember all the soldiers who have died to protect our country and who fought in wars to help others in need of protection.  We appreciate and respect all the soldiers today who continue to fight and protect.  After having a good conversation about war the students brainstormed words together that described the “darkness” and “lightness” of war.  They created beautiful poppies to depict this, which is now available to be seen in the Art Gallery Page above.

  1. Yes that day was a very sad but important day. I thought about what the solders would hate while at war. I think that everyone there probably had courage. I think they would miss there family and if I had to go there I would miss my family. Remembrance day is one of our important but sad days.

    1. I’m so glad that you feel that way, Sora! I agree that the soldiers would be very courageous and that it would be hard to be away from your family.
      Thanks for your comment!

    1. I understand…it is nice you feel so much for the soldiers. That’s why we should always honour them always and not just on Remembrance Day.

  2. I liked the assembly but It was sad, i learned more about what it would feel like to be a veteran because of the wise words the REAL veteran spoke and the video also gave a good image to process in my mind.
P.S I am at nathans house playing with neighbors dog and writing this

  3. I feel really sad that soilders have to risk their lives to give us freedom. Can’t we just have peace in Earth and live a happy life? Are people in other conturies who is still having war going on wanting to have more land or something? I think that it is really unfair to people on Earth to be having a very hard time in their lives where we have a great time even if we can have hard times some time in life.

  4. You are really reflecting on what you heard that day at the assembly. That is wonderful. It shows you really were engaged and understand how important it is to remember.

  5. Why can’t people live in peace and not in war? How does war get started? All this reminds me about the story of Malala. I think Malala was doing the right thing so that she could let children and women have education. But if they had education, they would have peace because they would get what they wanted, but the rulers wouldn’t.
