Work and Play

Hi All,

Here are some great photos of Division working and playing over the last few months.  It is so wonderful to see them interacting with each other so well, exploring, learning, and sharing.  In this album, you will see photos of them during the dance assembly where they rocked their number  and had skating lessons in January, the Valentine’s day Party and working on the Cardboard Challenge in February, playing basketball during some free time, a birthday photo,  their trip to Burnaby South to see the Science Fair, their art submission for Arts Alive and pictures of them sharing their group stories.  What great memories! : )

It’s Astonishing! It’s April Already!

Hello Everybody,

March seemed like a blip in the school year, having had two weeks off for spring break.  The boys and girls are continuing on in 3rd term, knowing the routines so well by now.  I will include some photos taken before the holidays.

Track season has started and I am thrilled that the majority of my class were interested in joining.  They have been training well and have learned to pass a baton and sprint and run longer distances.  Thanks to parent volunteers all students were able to attend our first after school track meet.  What a fun time it was!images

Division 5 was introduced to, “The Greatest Love of All” by Whitney Houston, the song they will be performing in May.  It has such an important and beautiful message.  Boys and Girls, please practice!  Don’t forget to think about what you will be wearing! ; )

Winter Wonderland

On Friday, January 15 Division 5 had an amazing time entering a “Winter Wonderland”.  Snowshoeing was hard work, but fun.  Boys and Girls, what did our guide Phil teach you during out trek through the snow?  What things did you see on our adventure and what was your favourite thing up on Grouse Mountain?  I am very proud of all of you and I didn’t hear anyone tell me they were tired while snowshoeing! Here are some pictures of our day! Click on the snowflakes!snowf

Awesome Thriller Dancing!

Division 5…you are awesome!  You all looked so amazing doing the dance…so much energy and so cool!  I’ve already had so many compliments on how well you boys and girl did!  Thanks for being super stars!  I’m actually going to miss practicing the dance in the morning!

Here is a video one parent took (click on the pic below)…if there are any others I can post them too.  Let me know!  Enjoy!

October!

catOctober has come and gone!  The students are still waiting to receive their blog passwords from the district.  Hope they will get them soon.  I am certain they will have many things to share.

Division 5 did an awesome job performing the “Halloween Night” song at the October assembly.  If there are any pictures or videos out there please let me know and I will put them up to share.  I am so proud of you boys and girls! : )

Here are some fun pictures of Buddy Bingo and our afternoon after the assembly.  Thanks parents for sending treats to share.  It was a fun filled day.  Also, check out our trip to Edmond’s pool on October 30.  The kids had a great time and was a fun bonding experience while being active.  Many of the Grade 5 students were able to smile for the camera and receive their ACTIVE passes that day.  Division 5 and I want to thank all the parents who took time out of their busy schedules to drive kids to and from the pool.  You all rock!

New Update:  Thanks Mrs. G for letting us have your video of Division 5 singing at the assembly!  They were fabulous and cute! : )

Crazy Carnival Fun!

Don’t you wish we could have a Crazy Carnival at our school all the time?  Divisions 4, 5, & 6 had a Crazy Carnival on June 12.  First, a Food Truck, Dougiedogdiner came by and our classes lined up to order up their food.  Then at noon the students entered the carnival. There was an “Incredibles” bouncy castle, an enormous fire truck slide, a cotton candy maker, 4 carnival games, and of course the DUNK TANK!  Boys and girls tell us about some good memories of your day!  Did you have fun?  We are so glad that we could use our fundraising money since you all worked so hard!  Here are some photos.

Dancing With the Stars!

Star-picsDear Boys & Girls,

You truly are stars!  It was fabulous to watch your final performances that you worked very hard on in P.E.  Working in a group and collaborating isn’t always easy, but each time you do you gain more experience and knowledge about what works and what doesn’t.  I am so proud of your efforts and perseverance!  Here are your dances….some videos are just a little shorter than what was video taped…there must be a time limit for the length of videos I can upload.  Division 4 Rocks!

Snowshoeing at Grouse Mountain

IMG_0816We had such an amazing time up at Grouse Mountain.  I liked the comment made by a spry elderly man descending  the trail our group was going up,  “Best P.E. class of the year I bet!” he stated again and again with a huge grin. It was the first time snowshoeing for most of our class and so I was very proud that although tired, they kept on going.  It is wonderful to do such things as a class. Not only is it great for our fitness, but for some good bonding time, too.

I have posted the pictures up:  http://www.flickr.com/photos/90261662@N02/11458593134/

What you can’t get from the pictures was the excited voices, loud laughter, spontaneous singing of carols by several from our class, and of course the delighted screams, yes screams when the gondola swayed passing by two of the towers.  I bet some of the kids loved the gondola ride  best.

Thanks for your support Parents and helping to provide this experience for our students.  Also, hope the parent volunteers had fun and thanks for helping out!

So kids tell us about your experience up at Grouse!

The Active Pass Program is Awesome!

IMG_0599 IMG_0600 IMG_0601 IMG_0602 IMG_0603 IMG_0604IMG_0604On October 10, Division 4 took a field trip to Edmond’s Community Center where the majority of the class got their pictures taken and registered to receive their Active Passes.  The handful of students who were already pass holders anxiously waited for the rest of the class to get theirs and for the okay to jump into the pool.  Thanks to parent volunteer drivers,  Division 4 had a fun time bonding with each other and getting some good exercise.  Grade 5s are very fortunate to be able to do so many fun activities for free at participating community centers, so hope you continue to take advantage of it this year!  Here are some photos.
