Updates and Phone Calls with Ms. Derksen

Happy sunny Monday!

This morning was quite surreal for me. In order to get back into a regular routine (sleep schedule, get ready to get out of the house, etc.), I started my day by visiting our school. I am so grateful to our district, our custodians, and our administrative team for planning to allow us (teachers) the option to access our classrooms and resources while keeping our community safe. At this time the school remains closed to the public. The playground was empty, our halls were empty, and our classroom was empty. I was overcome with helplessness, disappointment, and heartbreak. I didn’t expect for this trip to our school to make everything with the COVID-19 circumstances to feel real but reality struck hard. I am so grateful to you as a community for your patience and flexibility while we figure out what learning will look like without our school as a place to come together.

Inman on this sunny morning, without children, without teachers, without staff, without the community…

Phone calls with your teacher!

It is so great to hear your voices! If you haven’t yet received a call from me just yet, it will be coming this afternoon or in the next couple of days.

In the meantime, please make sure you (students) are checking your student email once a day and have accessed Teams. I will be posting visual instructions on how to access Teams here a little later on.

If you have forgotten your log in information, have your parents/ family email me or have a pen and paper ready when we have a chance to catch up over the phone.
