Skating fun!

We had so much fun skating today!

Some people went skating for the first time today and everyone had fun! Now some are ready to continue to work on their ice skating skills.

Thank you to all parent drivers and volunteers who helped us on and off the ice!

Skytrain field trip

Today we were supposed to have had a day at Science World, but things changed.  Everyone showed their flexible thinking when plans were changed on the go and we still had a fun morning!

After a special skytrain ride to waterfront station on our own train we had fun at the playground by Science World.

Thank you to all the parents who came on this adventure with us today!

Alpha leadership big buddies activity

This week Alpha leadership students planned an activity and came to our classroom. They planned a beautiful art and writing activity in which students were “saying” or “thinking” attributes about who they are.
Each piece is unique and really shows who each student is. It was a great way to end our unit that celebrates diversity!

Needle felting

This week we did needle felting! We started the heart project with our big buddies. Needle felting takes time and patience to get the felt into the desired shape and then using the needle to tighten the felt. For most students, this was a new experience or a new way to use felt for crafting. We made hearts and some students also created a second craft of their choice.

Abstract art

This week we learned about the artist Henry Kandinsky and how music played a big role in his abstract art. We created art with paint sticks and watercolour inspired by his art piece called Concentric Circles.

Stuffies at school

The Stuffies sure had a busy day!! They came along with pajama day for the music party with Mrs. Seah but they followed along our day in the classroom and even did some work!! They did mindful breathing, daily 5, early bird work, reading, played and even had lunch!

Art inspired by Alma Thomas

This week for black excellence day we learned about the artist Alma Thomas. She was an art teacher in the U.S. and advocated for art in the black community. She later became an artist herself and was the first African American female artist to have a solo art exhibition in a museum. Colours of nature inspired her abstract art.

Here are photos of our class creating abstract arr with paint sticks inspired by colours in nature that brings us joy.
