Happy 2022, Division 10!

Happy January, Division 10!  I hope you all had a restful winter break.  This is my class blog where I will post activities if we need to move to online learning.  I will talk more about this next week in class.  I look forward to seeing everyone soon!

You Did It! Last Day of School!!

Congratulations, Division 10!  You made it!  I am SO PROUD of all of you and all that you have achieved this year.  You worked very hard in class, made new friends, developed leadership skills, and so much more ! Way to go!  Remember that Mom or Dad can pick up your report card tomorrow at the designated time.  A few of you have left behind possessions and those will be there to pick up too.  I thought we could end our school year by doing another fun STEM activity, scavenger hunt, and GoNoodle song.  

**Mrs. Robert’s has also posted a few summer read aloud’s for you to check out as well as the read aloud to “Oh The Places You’ll Go.”  You can see the library blog *HERE*. 

1) STEM Menu OR Marble Run-your choice! Have fun, be creative, and take a picture and send it to me when you are done ! Make sure to clean up after as well 🙂

3) Read for 20-30 minutes or finish up a Raz Kids assignment.  Raz Kids will be available until the end of the month (as will IXL).

Activities for Tuesday June 23, 2020: Scrapbook, Today’s Number, and Zoom

Happy Tuesday, Division 10!  I can’t believe we are down to our final two days!  I have been reflecting on the year and I am so proud of all that you have accomplished and the adaptations that you have made to online learning. Way to go, everyone!  Today is a wrap up day and tomorrow is a few end of year fun activities to do.  Here are today’s activities:

1) Farewell to  Second/ Third Grade (Grade 2/3) Scrapbook Page- this one should not take you very long to do. Please make sure to be neat with your writing and use bright colours on the pictures and outlines of the sentence frames.  Have fun!  The activity sheet is below for each grade level.

Activities for Monday June 22, 2020: Shining Star Scrapbook Page, IXL, Reading

Happy Monday, Division 10! I hope you all had a great weekend and had a chance to celebrate your Dad’s!   It is officially our last week of school!  We will have activities today, tomorrow, and a few on Wednesday.  Wednesday is the Grade 7 Leaving Ceremony so we will have our last official Zoom session tomorrow instead.  The weather is supposed to be great this week so make sure you get outside and enjoy it (don’t forget sunscreen, though!)  Here are today’s activities:

1) Shining Star Scrapbook Page- brainstorm some ideas of what you are most proud of this year.  When was a time you were compassionate (kind to others)?  Showed responsibility in the classroom or on the playground?  Were honest?  Each star can probably fit 2-3 sentences.  Make sure to check for spelling, capitals, periods, and sentence sense. Decorate and lightly colour your stars when you are done and then email me your finished page 🙂

2) IXL–  place value review for both grades today!  Grade 2’s- L.1 (Level D), Grade 3’s-L.2 (Level D).

3) Read for 20-30 minutes

4) Go outside for a neighbourhood bike ride or walk!  Have a wonderful day, everyone ! We will have our last Zoom session tomorrow at 1 PM!  See you there 🙂 

 

Activities for June 18-19, 2020

Hi there, Division 10!  I can’t believe we only have a few days left of school!  I am so proud of all of you for how easily you have adapted to our change in learning.  You are all awesome!  Next week we will have our last full days on Monday and Tuesday and I will give you a few activities to do on Wednesday as well.  We will have our last Zoom session next Tuesday at 1 PM as I will be teaching at school that day.  Here are the activities for Thursday and Friday this week:

Thursday June 18, 2020:

1) 321 Science Response– Grade 2’s-watch the following video on the water cycle and share 3 things you learned, 2 questions you have, and 1 thing you found that was interesting. The 321 Response will be attached as well.

Grade 3’s-watch the following video about a soil erosion experiment with water.  Use the 321 Response below to share three things you learned, 2 questions you have, and 1 that was interesting.

**Erosion means the movement of soil or rock usually by water, wind, or ice.

Take your time with this activity and watch the videos a few times.  This will be due on Monday. 

2) 3-D Shape Scavenger Hunt- carefully follow the directions on the attachment below.  Look around your home and outside for some examples of 3-D shapes.  Grade 2’s, you need to tell me if these shapes can roll, slide, or do both.  Grade 3’s, you need to tell me ( as much as you can) how many edges, vertices, and faces the objects you find have.  Make sure to use colours and details with your drawings, Division 10!

1) Friday Letter- today we will use an end of the year page to share what we thought of Grades 2 and 3. Use the page *HERE*  or the attachment below to reflect on your time in Division 10.  I would recommend drawing lines in each box to help you write neatly.  Don’t forget to check for missing details, sentence sense, capitals, and periods.

2) Read for 20 minutes or finish up an assignment on Raz Kids. 

3) Class Zoom-1 PM- I will continue reading from The Philosopher’s Stone and I will talk about the water cycle and erosion as well 🙂

Activities for Wednesday, June 17, 2020: Class Zoom, IXL, Raz Kids

Hi there, Division 10!  I hope you are all having a wonderful week!  The sun is supposed to be making an appearance over the next few days which is great as well!  Here are today’s activities:

1) IXL- more 3-D shape practice for both grades 🙂

2) Class Zoom– we will be looking at and discussing a story called “Chalk” on Mrs. Robert’s blog.  Make sure to bring your “Inferring from Clues” worksheet, a pencil, an eraser, and markers or pencil crayons.  See you at 11 AM!

Activities for Tuesday June 16, 2020: Zoom Math, Reading, STEM Menu

Hello there, Division 10 ! I hope you all had a great Monday. Today we will have our next Zoom sessions about 3-D shapes and their attributes.  Here are today’s activities:

1) Zoom Math- please bring paper, a marker, a pencil, and an eraser.  I will email you your assignment after our Zoom sessions. Grade 3’s- 10 AM,  Grade 2’s- 11 AM.  See you there!  

2) Read for 20-30 minutes

3) STEM “Menu” Activity- choose ONE STEM activity from the attached menu below.  However, it can’t be the reading one!  Choose something you are interested in and might be a bit of a challenge for you!  Take a picture when you are done the activity (it can take you more than one day, that’s fine)  with an explanation of what you did and how you designed your product.  Have fun!

Activities for Monday June 15, 2020: Plant Reading Response, IXL, Reading

Hi, Division 10 ! I hope everyone had a great weekend and had a chance to get outside and play.  I had a chance to go see some of my family this weekend (while still practicing social distancing) and we went for a walk which was very nice 🙂  I am still waiting for a few communication writing assignments to come in.  I will be calling these people today as I need these for your report cards.  Here are today’s activities:

1) Plant Reading Response– carefully read the article 3 times and then highlight key words that will help you answer the questions.  When answering the questions make sure to use FULL SENTENCES and check for spelling, capitals, periods, and sentence sense.  Thank you!

June 11-12, 2020 Activities

Hello, Division 10!  I hope you enjoyed the videos we watched yesterday and learned something about seed germination.  Wouldn’t that be a fantastic challenge word for spelling ?!  Included below are the activities for Thursday and Friday of this week. We will not be doing our Friday letter this week, instead we will be working on our student voice interviews.  I need these done by Friday so we will do that on Thursday instead.  

Thursday, June 11, 2020 

1) Student Voice Interview: Think about how you would answer the questions (perhaps create a brainstorm first) and then fill out the question sheet below.  These will be used in your report cards so please make sure to do these by yourself, without parent help (as much as possible).  Make sure to add details, check for spelling, sentence sense, capitals, periods, and proper verb tense. Please email these to me when you are done.  Thank you!  The activity is below:

3) Raz Kids if you haven’t completed the assignment yet (and recorded yourself) or read for 20 minutes.

4) **Art** (you can work on this today and tomorrow)- using the comic strip *HERE*  draw and colour how a seed grows into a plant (seed germination). There are 3 sections so make sure to start with pencil first to plan out how you want to show the growth of the seed into a plant. You can use the videos linked below to help you with this.  Add labels to show the seed, stem, leaves, flowers, and roots.  Have fun and be creative!  If you need help, email me!

Activities for Wednesday, June 10, 2020: Reading Response, Class Zoom and IXL

Happy Wednesday, Division 10!  I hope you have all had a great week so far.  I enjoyed seeing you all at our Zoom yesterday!  I can tell though that some of you are getting tired of remote or online learning which I totally get ! I look forward to seeing you all soon, in person! 🙂  Anyways, here are today’s activities:

1) 321 Response to “Once Upon  A Seed”  Mrs. Robert’s read this story back in April on her blog but it fits in perfectly with our mini unit on plants.  Carefully listen to the story *HERE* (remember, the password is nighthawks if you need it!) and then fill out the 321 Response below.  Please email it to me when you are done.

2) Class Zoom- 11 AM- be ready to go over parts of the plants and examples of what plant parts we eat.  We will also watch a time lapse video of the growth of a seed and I will read from The Philosopher’s Stone. See you there!
