Hello Families of Division 11,

Here are some things to note:

Functional Closure Procedure Information (currently we are not in one)

In the event of a functional closure our class will be continuing to use Freshgrade and the class blog (accessible through the school website under staff tab). Activities and assignments will be posted on the blog and Freshgrade to be viewed by families. I will hold daily virtual meetings on Teams at 10am for about an hour to connect with the whole class about the objectives for the day and then meet with smaller groups to provide more individualized support.

To access teams, families can either download the app or go on the web browser. Student  information to access Teams will be put into student planners for your reference. Please take some time to familiarize yourself with this program and ask me any questions you may have. If any issues occur we can try to solve it together before making any transitions online if needed.

Please fill out the Access to Technology survey below before January 28, 2022 https://forms.office.com/r/1kL7m3s8Da

Covid Close Contact Procedure

If your family is considered a close contact of someone who has covid please refer to the images attached below to decide whether your child can attend school. Health decisions must be made by families, but I will try my best to answer any questions you may have.

Fun Lunches

Many families have inquired about future fun lunches, which are put together by the PAC (parent advisory committee). The PAC has reopened the online portal to purchase fun lunches for February and onward until Friday January 21  Please look for the email from PAC about how to purchase the fun lunches.

Thank you for your understanding and support during these uncertain times,

Ms. Diep

Hello Families of Division 11,

Welcome back

I hope you all had a restful and relaxing break. We were so excited to welcome everyone back into the building yesterday.  Staff was busy preparing for the safe return of students and planning for online learning should that be needed. More information regarding online learning will be sent out to families if the time comes in order to make as smooth a transition as possible.

Extra clothes and shoes

Please make sure to have your child bring an extra pair of shoes and an extra set of clothes that has been labeled with their names to leave in the classroom.

Library

Our library days are still on Mondays, please ensure your child returns their books before then to get new books to read.

Here are some things to note for this month:

January 14 - Black Excellence Day

On January 14th, thousands of students, educators, and citizens across British Columbia and Canada will wear black shirts in recognition of the struggle for civil rights fought by Black and racialised Canadians.

Commemorating the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr., Black Shirt Day is both a day of education and remembrance, and an invitation to a necessary conversation about racial justice.

January 14 - Fun Lunch

If you have ordered a fun lunch for your child, please bring a ziplock bag for your child's garbage to bring home to dispose of.

Thank you,

Ms. Diep

Hello Families of Division 11,

Here are some things to note:

Razkids

Razkids is finally up and running. Letters on how to access your child's account will be sent home in their planners tomorrow. Razkids is an online reading program that is a great resource to use at home with your child. This will encourage them to practice their reading skills and develop a habit of reading every day. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Hi Division 11 families,

Here are some things to note for November:

PJ Day on Monday November 1st! Students can come wearing their PJs or comfy clothes after a fun filled weekend.

Library will be on Tuesday for this week because the library will be used for grade 6 vaccinations during our usual time on Monday.

Remembrance Day is on Thursday November 11 and the school will be closed.

Photo retakes will be on November 16.

Reports will be sent home November 19 at the end of the day.

Pro D Day is on November 26 and students do not come to school.

P.S. There was a glow stick given out to students to wear for trick or treating so they can be seen by cars 🙂  Stay safe and see you on Monday!

Ms. Diep

Hello Families of Division 11,

Here are some things to note:

Pumpkins

Students will be bringing their pumpkins home today. Please help your child to clean it out and carve it. On Friday October 29, students are invited to bring their pumpkins back to school to display in the gym for everyone to see. Have your child bring the pumpkin with their name and division on it to their classroom in the morning and they will get to bring it home at the end of the day.

The optional worksheet activity is in your child's planner pocket if you would like to complete it.

Masks

Please have your child keep an extra mask or two in their backpacks to use. With the rainy weather masks are getting wet, students accidentally drops their mask on the floor or misplace it and the office is running low on spare masks.

Thank you for your support,

Ms. Diep

Hello Families of Division 11,

Here are some things to note:

Spirit Wear Orders

Spirit Wear Orders are due October 29 and payment must be made in cheque to the Suncrest PAC.

Prepared for the Weather

Please make sure your child comes to school dressed for the weather. We keep the windows open every day to help with air circulation, so our classroom will be colder than usual. Please have your child dress warmly everyday.

Halloween week

October 27 - Pumpkin Patch & Hot chocolate

Students will go with their class to the grass field to pick a pumpkin to bring home. Please have your child bring a bag to carry the pumpkin home. Students will also receive hot chocolate to drink in their classrooms.

At home please help your child to clean it out and carve it. In your child’s planner there is an activity sheet for their pumpkin. This is an optional activity, but it would be great practice for recording information and examining the pumpkin in detail.

Thank you for your help with this activity!

October 29 - Costume Parade & Class Halloween Party

Students are welcome to wear a costume to school on October 29 and they will participate in a parade to show off their costumes to other students. Please ensure the costume is appropriate for school. More information about costume dress code is on the Suncrest homepage.

Our class is having a party in the afternoon (Oct. 29) to celebrate (short film, centres and themed games) we will not be having any shared treats during this time. A special individual treat for your own child is more than okay to bring for our celebration.

Thank you,

Ms. Diep
