Meet Ms. Elder!

Dear parents, families, and guardians of Division 2,

I am so excited to be working with and learning alongside this group over the next few weeks. My name is Stephanie Elder (she/her) and I am the student teacher in Ms. Ward’s class. Over the past eight years, I have worked extensively at a summer camp on Gambier Island with children and youth in the outdoors. Most of my school experiences prior to starting in the Professional Development Program at SFU were in the Chilliwack School District, so I am looking forward to being part of the Burnaby school community and even more so at Lochdale Community School. I am passionate about outdoor education and building skills that will support students throughout their lives. I am constantly inspired by students persevering in each subject area. I cannot wait to learn more about the strengths and interests of our classroom community, while also supporting each student on their learning journey.

Grade 7 is such an exciting time with opportunities for student leadership in the school, while becoming part of the wider community and thinking about the world around us. I want to support students with their individual needs because every learner is unique. I look forward to getting started with this wonderful group of Grade 7s! If you have any questions or need to connect with me, please contact Ms. Ward via e-mail.

Kind regards,

Stephanie Elder

Student Teacher (SFU)
