Hello Division 8,

Join us tonight at 7:00 pm on Microsoft Teams to help celebrate the end of our unusual school year.

WHO: Division 8 (your families are welcome, too!)

WHAT: Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone

WHERE: From the comfort of your home; find somewhere comfy to watch.

WHEN: Movie will start at 7:00 pm, if you join us later just remember to mute your mic. If you want to chat before the movie begins you can join the class chat at 6:45 pm.

WHY: Let’s celebrate the end of the school year and beginning of Summer Break!

HOW: Join us on Microsoft Teams on the Chit-Chat channel.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR YEAR END

Hello Division 8,

As the school year winds down there are some important dates and pieces of information that you will need to know.  An email from the school was emailed out to families last week.

IMPORTANT DATES

  • Last  student package pick-up for all students (student work from the school year to be picked-up):
    • Friday, June 19th 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
  • Last day for students attending class in school as well as class video-chats on Microsoft Teams:
    • Tuesday, June 23rd
  • Report card pick-up:
    • Wednesday, June 24th 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
      • I will be handing out report cards in-person on Wednesday, June 24th from 9:00 – 10:30 am. If you are able to make it at that time it would be great to see you.
    • Thursday, June 25th 11:00 am – 3:00 pm
  • Last day for Hot Lunch:
    • Thursday, June 25th

BORROWED LAPTOPS

  • We ask that you keep the device safe and secure for the duration of the summer. Students can continue to use the laptops for either personal or school-related (summer session) purposes; there is an expectation that students care for their devices as they will play a crucial role in learning in the fall.  If you have any plans to move, please let me know, as any borrowed devices would need to be returned to the school.  If you no longer have use for the device please let me know. More information will come in September.

I hope you are able to make it for the report card pick-up next Wednesday, from 9:00 – 10:30 am, as it would be lovely to see you before the Summer break.

 

WEEKLY CHECK-IN SURVEY

Hello Division 8,
Last week I was able to have weekly check-ins by phone or video-chat. Moving forward, I would like to have group weekly check-ins so that our class can see each other, if only online, to connect. June is a month that we celebrate the year and the community our class built together over the year.  This is even more important as we have been learning from home since Spring Break.  You have mentioned that you miss your friends and classmates, and I do, too.  I’ve been trying to think of a way we can connect with each other as a class for the rest of the school year.
I have put a survey up on our class Team, on the Circle Time page, asking for feedback from students about how they would like to connect with me for the remainder of June. You can access the poll here. Your feedback is greatly appreciated and will help decide how we move forward, together, for the remainder of the school year.
