Welcome to week 2 of online learning! Hopefully some of the kinks are figured out and things run a little more seamless this week!

We look forward to connecting with all of you through video conferencing. If you signed up for a chat today, please be ready on your phone, iPad, or computer at 1:00. Also, if you haven’t looked at the other links in the menu at the top of the screen, there are additional activities to keep you busy. We’ve been adding handwriting everyday and there is a new Science lesson.

Here is today’s lesson:

1. Read one new story from the online reading program Mrs. Leroux has set up.

2. Math:  In today’s lesson you will be learning that there are two ways to write money – with a cent sign and a dollar sign. When using the cent symbol, it comes after the number like 43¢. When using the dollar sign, the symbol comes before the number and has a decimal point. For example, $0.43. The first worksheet is to practice using the cent sign, and the second worksheet is to practice using the dollar sign.

3. Mrs. Field reads a new story every Monday. Please click on the Library link at the top and listen to her read the story.

Good morning class! I hope your first day of school went well for both parents and students. Today we will be working on Math, Writing and P.E.

Parents we are working to set up a reading program with online books at each child’s level. It has taken a bit longer than we hoped, but should be up before the end of the work week. To those who sent in work from your child, thank you and you don’t need to send anything in today. If your child has completed some work but you haven’t submitted a picture or two, please email us with a screen shot. Thanks again for your support and patience!

Math:

1. Review with your parents the value of each coin.
2. Please click here for your Math worksheet today.
3. Please ignore the instructions at the top and instead write the value for each coin in the box under each coin.

Writing: students will be working on developing more detailed sentences.

1. Read the instructions for this sheet and complete it

P.E.: Complete at least 30 minutes of exercise time. It could be one of the following or something else you wish to do.

Good morning class!! Welcome to day 1 of our new learning journey.

Parents: please note there is a translate button at the bottom of the screen where you can translate everything from our blog into your 1st language by clicking on the flag of your home country.
We are aware that these are challenging times and know that some days are better than others. Please do what you can and take a break when you or your child needs it. The school district has asked us to assign 1 hour of work a day, so don’t feel you need to continue if it is taking much longer to complete. As we continue to set up our program, we will include extension activities for families that are wanting more work.
Finally, we will be including printable worksheets in our lessons through OneDrive. If you don’t have a printer, use a workbook or blinder with lined paper for your child to record their answers. Please have your child write the date on their  work! We will be setting up a system where students can send their daily work. For now, please take a screen shot of their work and email it to us. Thank you for your support!!

2. For Math, please collect 5 different coins (nickel, dime, quarter, loonie, and toonie) and follow this link to upload today’s lesson on money.

Hello Class!! We miss you and hope you are all healthy and doing well during this difficult time. We will begin our online learning and teaching journey on Tuesday, April 14th. Everyday we will have a post with the work you will need to complete that day. For now, we will be focusing on reading, writing, and math. If you wish to complete additional work, there is a list of online activities on the sidebar under bookmarks. As we develop our understanding of using this blog, we hope to make your learning more interactive.
