Overview for the Year
As Career Minded Citizens, students explore the role they play in society from their contributions, their organization, their leadership and responsibilities, and their goal setting.
The Big Ideas that we are focusing on this year are:
- Our attitudes toward careers are influenced by our view of ourselves as well as by our friends, family, and community.
- Our personal digital identity forms part of our public identity.
- Practicing respectful, ethical, inclusive behaviour prepares us for the expectations of the workplace.
- Leadership represents good planning, goal-setting, and collaboration.
- Safe environments depend on everyone following safety rules.
- New experiences, both within and outside of school, expand our career skill set and options.
As Leaders, students worked on completing their food truck project with the final presentation. Student’s also worked on a novel podcast which introduced them to a career opportunity for them to think about as a future career. Student’s finished the term reflecting on their learning and growth over the year with their Core Competency Year End Reflection and reviewing their Individual Educational Plan goals they set out for themselves in term 1.
