2)  Kindergartens– Yesterday we heard the story Green Eggs and Ham by Dr.Seuss
His stories always have a lot of rhyming words. Here is fun activity to
practice rhyming words! RhymingDrSeussBook You fill in the blank with a rhyming word and
then draw a picture to match. If you do not have access to a printer, you can
write and draw your words on blank piece of paper.  Emailed your work when completed.

Grade Ones- A lot of you wrote that you would not like green eggs and ham.
What would you rather eat? What ingredients do you think you would need?
Draw a picture of your favorite food and write a few sentences describing your
favorite food. Email me when your are completed.

3) Login onto your symphony math account for 15 minutes.

4) Acts of Kindness are small nice things we can do for each other. Here are examples of some 26RandomActsofKindness. Can you think of anymore? Which ones can you do now? Make a plan for one or more acts of kindness you can do over the next few days. Draw a picture or write your plan. 😊

There were a lot of rhyming words in the story. Listen to the story again and try to see how many rhyming words you can find. Pick some rhyming words and make silly sentences using the words. 😊

Find a fork and spoon in your kitchen. Find 5 things in your home that are shorter than a spoon. Find 5 things in your home that are longer than a fork

Parents please read/ write questions for them to answer the word problems.

Amaya was eating 10 jelly beans. Gia came along and ate 6 of her jelly beans. How many jelly beans did Amaya have left to eat?

Gia had 12 grapes, but Amaya ate 6! How many grapes are left? Is there enough for the 2 of them? If so, how many each would they get?

Gia was playing with her 6 favourite toys. Amaya gave her 5 more toys. How many toys does Gia have now? Draw a picture to show your thinking.

4) Kindergartens Lets practice the alphabet sounds. Write out all the letters of the alphabet in lowercase or uppercase formation. Go through each alphabet sound and think of a word that starts with that sound. Please email your work

Grade Ones go over your spelling words. Choose 3 words and make a sentence using each word. Email your work.

3) Kindergartens –Complete the sort for letter- C, H, F and D match the beginning sound with the correct letter. I have emailed the sort to your parents. If you do not have a printer, use a white piece of paper and divide into 4 sections and then draw the pictures under the correct letter.

 Grade Ones-go over your new spelling words. I have emailed the spelling words to your parents.

4) Journal-Imagine that you have a magical dress-up box that turns you into whoever you dress as. Who would you be and why?

Kindergartens draw a picture and ask a family member to help with writing. Grade ones draw a picture and write a few sentences. Please email your work when completed. 😊

Here is the plan for today.

Good morning! Mother’s Day is on Sunday! Our last task today will be a Mother’s Day activity. If possible, please have your child complete the last activity with another family member at home. I hope you have a great Mother’s Day!

1)Go for a morning walk and enjoy the beautiful weather.

2) Login into your symphony math account for 15 minutes.

3)Kindergartens
I emailed your parents a spring reading package. Read the fourth story with a family member and answer the questions.

Grade ones
Read your story and then begin writing the end. Look at your planning pieces to support you with your writing.

For the end focus on:
How did the problem get solved?
How does the main character feel?

When you are finished writing. Go back and proof read your work to check for periods, capitals, spelling and spacing between words. Think about any other details you would like to add to your story. When your story is completed, please email to me. If you need extra time to work on it, you can email it over the weekend.

3)Kindergartens look for 5 words around your house and print them.

Grade Ones have a family member read out 10 words from your spelling list. Do your best and write them down. Email the quiz when you are finished.

4)Mother’s Day is on Sunday! Here are some ideas you can work on to surprise your mom. It is your choice which activity and how many activities you would like to complete 🙂

Today we are going to look at the 3d shape cylinder. A cylinder is round and has a top and bottom in the shape of a circle. The top and bottom are flat and always the same size. I think the best way to describe the shape of a cylinder is to think of a can of soup.

Now go on a shape hunt at home and look for cylinders. Draw and label the cylinders you find. Email your work when it is completed. 😊

3.Kindergartens
I emailed your parents a spring reading package. Read the third story with a family member and answer the questions.

Grade ones
Read the beginning of your story and then work on writing the middle. Look at your planning pieces to support you with your writing.

For the middle part, focus on the problem of your story
Describe the problem?
Who is involved?
How does the main character feel?
Who will help solve the problem?

When you are finished writing. Go back and proof read your work to check for periods, capitals, spelling and spacing between words. Think about any other details you would like to add to your story. You do not to email your work yet. You will be working on the end of your story on Friday

4. Art

Take some of your favorite toys outside and line them up, like they are having a parade. Then put a piece of white paper on the ground behind the toys. Now try tracing the shadow on the paper and then color it in. Look at the example below.

2.Kindergartens pick one of the following journal topics. Draw a picture and ask a family member to help you with the writing. Email your work when it is completed.

  • What is your favorite thing to play outside?
  • My favorite thing to do with my parents is ________ because _________.

Grade Ones
Now we are going to start putting your story together! I want you to look at your planning pieces so far and fill out this story planning chart BMEStoryPlanningChart. It is up to you if you would like to draw pictures or write to fill out the planning chart. You can refer to the chart as a guide to support your writing.  You do not need to write the entire story today. We will be working on the story over the next few days.

After you have filled out the planning chart and then start writing the beginning of your story.

For the beginning make sure you include:

  • Introducing the main character and other characters
  • Describing the setting
  • A drawing
  • Your writing

When you are finished the beginning. Go back and proof read your work to check for periods, capitals, spelling and spacing between words. Think about any other details you would like to add to the beginning. You do not to email your work yet. You will be working on your stories for the rest of the week and on Friday I would like you to email it. 😊

Grade Ones- You have decided on a main character and setting for your story. You have been thinking and brainstorming about what adventures your character will go on. Today I would like you to think of the problem in your story. Here are some questions that will help you plan.

What will the problem be in your story?
How will it get solved?
Will the main character need others to help?
How will the character feel when the problem is solved?

Draw and write your ideas and email them once you are finished. 😊

Last week we began our unit on 3d shapes and compared circles and spheres. Today we are going to look at another 3d shape.

Kindergartens– Draw a picture of the setting and ask a family member to help you write one sentence describing the setting. Email me your work. 😊

Grade Ones– We will continue with our story planning. Last Friday, you started planning your story by thinking about your main character. Today we will focus on the setting of your story. Here are some questions to think about and answer.

  • What are some possible settings for your story?
  • What adventures will the main character be going on?
  • A story can have more than one setting. Will your story have more than one setting?
  • What do your see in your story setting?
  • What do your hear in your story setting?

Draw a picture of your story setting and include your main character. Write down your ideas and answers to the questions above and email them. 😊

The main character is the person or animal that story is about. Who was the main character in this story? What are some words you would use to describe duck? We are going to start story writing. You will be writing your own story and it can be about anything. Before we write the story, we need to plan certain parts of the story. Today the focus will be planning your main character. Here are some questions you need to think about and answer:

  • Is your character a person or animal?
  • What makes your character special?
  • What is your character’s name?
  • What adventures will your character go on?
  • What does your character like or dislike?

Write down the answers to these questions and any other ideas about your main character. Please draw a picture of your character and email your work when it is completed.
