Pumpkin Fun!

Thank you to our PAC for giving each child the chance to pick out their own pumpkin! We have been having a lot of fun exploring and learning about pumpkins! We are learning new vocabulary and using our senses to describe what we see, hear, and feel:

We are also working as scientists and artists! As we look closely, we are practicing to draw and share what we notice:

After investigating the outside of our pumpkins, we wondered what we might find inside:

Once we cut the top of the pumpkin, we all had the chance to look inside and help scoop out the pulp! Again, we practiced using our senses to look, touch, and smell the pumpkin. “We found seeds! We smell it. We can use those seeds and plant new ones!”

Our pumpkin fun culminated with the carving of our jack-o-lantern! The students voted for an “angry” pumpkin and chose the shapes for the design:

  1. Such strong kids holding heavy pumpkins and focused kids when it’s time to explore the veggies ! Great job with the jack-o-lantern carving, a real masterpiece !

  2. It was fascinating to see them learn about pumpkins, be focused on their details, and be able to describe them.
The angry pumpkin is quite fun and scary too!
