Happy December! Term 1 is officially over and we are moving on to Term 2 this month. The end of term is a time for reflection as students and teachers look back to all of the learning and connection-building that has happened.
Term 1 Report Cards
Term 1 Report Cards will be posted to MyEd on Wednesday, December 11th. This is one of the ways teachers communicate student growth and progress. If you are unable to view your child’s report card after receiving the email, please contact the school office.
Outdoor Learning
This term, our class along with Div. 4 have spent many lessons outside during Outdoor Learning. We have explored the greenspace behind the school and Byrne Creek. Earlier this month, we visited Byrne Creek to count the returning coho salmon. Students were thrilled to see the adult salmon return to their home creek.
Young People’s Concert
Term 1 was also the first opportunity students in grades 4-7 had to attend this year’s Young People’s Concert series. In November, we travelled to Michael J Fox Theatre to watch ‘The Leading Ladies Little Big Band”. This local band is made up of 11 women who play a variety of instruments. Inf you’re interested in learning more about this band, here is a link to their website:

Looking Ahead – Term 2
Term 2 officially begins in December. While students are wrapping up some units from term 1, we are also beginning new units this month. Please go to the ‘Overviews’ tab and click Term 2 for a summary of learning objectives for the next term.
Angel Tree Project
Each December, Glenwood hosts the Angel Tree Project, from the Burnaby Christmas Bureau. Each class will select a tag from the tree, and students are invited to donate $2 toward the purchase of a gift. Families are also invited to come in to the school and choose a tag from the Angel Tree, purchase a gift for the child described on the tag, and return the gift by the deadline. All donations go to children in our community.
Glenwood Winter Concert
Glenwood staff are thrilled to host a Winter Concert! Our wonderful Music teacher, Ms. Lee, has been working hard, along with students, for many weeks on this concert. The performances will be on Thursday, Dec. 12 with a matinee at 1:30 and evening performance at 6:30. We can’t wait to showcase our students’ talent and hard work!
