Should Seals Be Served In The Restaurant

I think that seals should not be served in restaurants because, they can get extinct. That can ruin the environment. The species that Granville Island is serving is the Harp seal.

They feed on small shrimp and small fish such as herring, cod and cape line. If seals get extinct all of these sea animals will get too much.

Also not all species of seals are endangered, but for the many species that are endangered, there are a number of different causes, including hunting, climate change and natural disasters. The populations of many seal species have been steadily declining over the past several hundred years due to humans killing millions of them for their skin, meat and blubber.

The polar bears hunt the seals and if the seals get extinct and then they can’t find any food.

Should we serve seals??

Should we be serving seals in restaurants?

This blog is about if we should serve seals, this idea came after a restaurant called Edible Canada (Edible Canada) is serving seals and a lot of people are saying “We shouldn’t serve seals” or “Seals should be served Because” So our Teacher wanted to see if we should serve seals or Not.

Well this is what I think, I think we should serve seals because they are a good source of protein, Vitamin B12 and iron can be met with 40 grams of seal meat.

And also the Canadian Government allows it!!! The Government allows about 400,000 seals a YEAR! But we currently have harvested about 36,000 Seals, So if the Government allows it (since he’s like the most popular person in the world) it means we can eat seals.

So that`s why i think it`s okay to serve seals (Harp Seals) in restaurants.

Seals on the Menu?

Should seals be on the menu? Well a Canadian restaurant on Vancouver Island (Edible Canada) seems to think so.

I think that seals, an important part of Canadian cuisine, should be sold. On two conditions. EVERY part of the seal gets used and that we CONTROL how much we take. If we don’t use every part of the seal then who knows where it goes! It could go to the ocean, landfills and who knows where else. And if we don’t control how much we take seals could become extinct or endangered.

Also the government only let’s us harvest 400,000 a year and on average we only take 350,000. More than one million seals have been slaughtered in the past five years alone. The last time seals were killed at this rate the harp seal population was reduced by as much as two thirds.

Some people have their reasons for not eating seal, religion or because seals have a chance of being extinct, but “Because they’re cute” is not a valid one. All animals have feelings but that doesn’t stop us from eating cows, pigs, or chickens. The idea of just not eating seals or any food on the basis that it’s cute doesn’t make any sense.

So, yes, seals should be on the menu. Thank you for reading my views on the subject.

Should we eat harp seal?

yes:

I think it’s OK to eat harp seal because we don’t harm their population(talk about:4.0 – 6.4 million in the Northwest Atlantic population, 300,000 in the east Greenland population, and 1.2 million in the Barents Sea / White Sea population) and some people like to try something new so it can be a good serving,Also The government allows harvesting seals. The restaurant serves seal on special holidays and it’s located on Vancouver island, many cultures are allowed to have harp seal.Harp seal are very plentiful.

monthly                                  yearly
approximate  3,200                      400,000

no:

The Inuit takes every part of the animal/ mammal,(even the eyes) but if the restaurant just takes the meat then they’re not using every part of its nature’s food source.  one time in music Ms.Con talked about this restaurant and there’s this one soup that’s called shark fin soup but what they do is, they’ll cut the fin off and throw the shark back in the water.                                                                                                                    I didn’t understand why would they do that just for the fin but they’re not using anything else other than that. Harp seals have families too, and we are treating them differently as if you are not the same as them or there are just animals/mammals, also I personally think some people don’t care about things like the climate change.

My Thinking:

I think I’m more on the no side because, If you harm their population soon scientists say that in 2045 the whole society will be into eating harp seal so that’s really bad and soon after that they might go extinct. My thinking is why do we kill harp seals when they have a family and so do we, I think if everyone stops and take a look at what we’re doing then we will be more formative to the world.

I personally think that harp seals are very cute animals/mammals because they are completely harmless and if you’ve seen them you can see how they like humans, at the same time you will like them too! “have you ever pet one before?” my friend told me.                                                                                                                      I hadn’t but you might be able to see them at the Vancouver aquarium, even though my friend said if I ever petted one in my life or your just saying that because their cute but climate change is what’s happening right now so we have to stop pollution for the cause of this planet and others.

I honor them because I don’t want harp seals to go extinct and that we will have to find another food source that we can eat. if I have the right to say this then you do too, so why won’t you stand up for this planet!
