Week of May 19-22

Sing “The Ants Go Marching.” The YouTube video has 10 verses! Feel free to pause or stop when you need a break. The lyrics are at the top of the video screen. Also, feel free to make the song go faster by clicking the Settings at the bottom right hand corner of the video, click “Playback Speed,” then click “1.25.”

Week of May 11-15

Week of May 11-15.
This week’s musical activity is Mirroring. Mirroring basically requires two people, one taking the role of a mover and the other person is the mirror. The mover must move slowly while the mirroring person copies off the mover’s movement. If the mover does not move slowly, the mirroring person would have a hard time following it. The Mirroring.mp4 is shorter than the the YouTube video below and it shows a stick man being the mover. Nonetheless, move slowly to get to the stick man’s position. Try mirroring with a family member. Have another person watch and figure out who is being the mover and the mirror. If the mover moves too quickly, the mirror would not be able to move in time, and the observer will easily figure out who is who. The music is set to Johann Sebastian Bach’s Air on a G String.
If you could send me a picture of your mirroring movement to mark.yang@burnabyschools.ca, I will put a sticker on your face for privacy share it here. Feel free to click Comments to make some comments.

Week of May 4-8

Sorry for uploading this week’s song late.

This Sunday is Mother’s Day. Here is a Mother’s Day song. It is much easier to learn than Lollipop Tree. Click the Comments button above and type in things that you are thankful to your mom.

UNITS – Mother’s Day

Once you click the link, scroll it down to get to the Mother’s Day song.

Hi kindergarteners!

I created a YouTube video of myself doing the action with the song. I took a number of tries to get this. See if you could do it better than me! Feel free to click “Comments” button to make any comments.

Week of May 4-May8
I have created a video of Boom-Dee-Ah-Da in two voice parts. First sing the melody (Voice 1), then sing the harmony (Voice 2). Then sing harmony again as you listen to the melody. If someone in your family could sing the melody while you sing the harmony, that would be great.

Week of April 28-May 1

Week of April 28-May 1
These are two songs that are paired together: Boom-Dee-Ah-Da & I love the City Life.
I knew “Boom-Dee-Ah-Da” but I learned “I love the City Life” from Mrs. Seminara at Chaffey-Burke Elementary when I was teaching there last year. I took a video recording of her last June and I just got her permission to share her video with you to teach the songs. Here are the instructions:
  1. Click https://web.microsoftstream.com/video/828daf4d-c3a5-4eba-aa31-0bcba195000d
    2. Under “Details,” click “See more” to view the lyrics.
    3. Play the video and learn to sing the two songs.
    4. Once you are able to sing the songs by memory, watch Mrs. Seminara’s action and learn it.
