Week of May 25-29

Now that you had a chance to sing The Ants Go Marching last week, let’s add in some movements. Of course, you are welcome to come up with your own movement version with last week’s video. Here is one version with the movement. The lyrics are a bit different than the video from last week.

Here are the lyrics for this one:

Ants Go Marching
1: The little one stops to suck his thumb.

2: The little one stops to tie his shoe.

3: The little one stops ‘cause he skinned his knee.

4: The little one stops to close the door.

5: The little one stops to take a dive.

6: The little one stops to pick up some sticks.

7: The little one stops to dreams of heaven.

8: The little one stops to shut the gate.

9: The little one stops to pick up a dime.

10: The little one stops and does it again.

Week of May 19-22

Also, feel free to make the song go faster by clicking the Settings at the bottom right hand corner of the video, click “Playback Speed,” then click “1.25.”

Week of May 11-15

Week of May 11-15.
This week’s musical activity is Mirroring. Mirroring basically requires two people, one taking the role of a mover and the other person is the mirror. The mover must move slowly while the mirroring person copies off the mover’s movement. If the mover does not move slowly, the mirroring person would have a hard time following it. The Mirroring.mp4 is shorter than the the YouTube video below and it shows a stick man being the mover. Nonetheless, move slowly to get to the stick man’s position. Try mirroring with a family member. Have another person watch and figure out who is being the mover and the mirror. If the mover moves too quickly, the mirror would not be able to move in time, and the observer will easily figure out who is who. The music is set to Johann Sebastian Bach’s Air on a G String.
If you could send me a picture of your mirroring movement to mark.yang@burnabyschools.ca, I will put a sticker on your face for privacy share it here. Feel free to click Comments to make some comments.

Hi kindergarteners!

I created a YouTube video of myself doing the action with the song. I took a number of tries to get this. See if you could do it better than me! Feel free to click “Comments” button to make any comments.

Cameron Song

Hello Kindergarten!
We have our school song. The song is much longer than other songs I used to teach you before the break. I would like you to listen and learn the song. If learning is too hard, don’t worry; just familiarize yourself to the song.

Here is the lyrics:

Tell me friend

Where can I go?

I need a place where dreams can grow

Where I am seen

For who I am

And everyone’s respected.

Cameron, Cameron

Why don’t you come to Cameron?

You’ll be seen for who you are!

And everyone

Everyone’s respected.

Tell me friend

Where can I go?

I need a place where dreams can grow

Where I can know

That I belong

And everyone’s accepted.

Cameron, Cameron

Why don’t you come to Cameron

You can know

That you belong

And everyone

Everyone’s accepted!

If you come to Cameron my friend

You’ll discover kindness without end.

You’ll discover learning and achievement

And laughter all around.

And laughter all around.

C-A-M-E-R-O-N (Clap)

Tell me friend

Where can I go?

I need a place where dreams can grow

Where I am seen

For who I am

And everyone’s respected.

Cameron, Cameron

Why don’t you come to Cameron?

Cameron, Cameron

That’s where the dream begins.
