Good morning my wonderful class. Hope you all had a great long weekend. I was supposed to be at the Justin Bieber concert in Portland this weekend but COVID-19 messed that up. I’m happy to hear that some things will start to open up soon, but I hope everyone still is practicing social distancing, or else the second wave will come in and we will be locked inside our homes again. Now that I’m all refreshed from the weekend, I’m looking forward to teaching you all again. On Tuesday, today, we will do a ZOOM read aloud. On Thursday, we will do a ZOOM workout. Have a good week!

For today’s journal writing, we will all start with this prompt:
Five years from now, I will be…
Example: Five years from now, I will be still working at Capitol Hill Elementary doing the position I’m doing now. Half time with Mrs. Armstrong, and half time helping out the rest of the school. I want to stay here at Capitol Hill because the students, teachers, and dogs that visit are all so friendly and welcoming. I also love the snacks that Mr. Kanno gives us during Staff Meetings, so tasty. Aside from being at this school, I want to be a dad to two little girls and complete it with our dog Callie. I want to spend my Saturday mornings taking my kids to soccer games, and spend my Sunday mornings watching them learn how to swim at Eileen Daily. I want to pick them up from daycare and go to McDonalds on the way home and not tell mommy that I allowed them to eat junk food. I want to build forts, learn how to french braid, and let them paint my nails. I want to be the ultimate girl dad. In 5 years, I hope to have my 4Runner car that I’ve always wanted. So I can take my family on camping adventures and meet up with my brother and his family. In five years, I hope I am as happy as I am today, because even though COVID-19 is a bad time for everyone, it has brought me closer to my family and made me more aware of how to keep safe during a dangerous time. For the next five years I will try to cook more. The reasons I want to cook more is because I like cooking for the family. The next reason I want to cook more is because its kinda like a chore so I don’t have to other chores. I also want to cook more because I get to choose what I cook for dinner and I always love what I cook. I sometimes even cook dinner all by myself! One more thing I also want to be a cook because with COVID-19 on not many restaurants are open. Those are my reasons.
Maybe as you get older, you can create a shopping list and walk down to Safeway by yourself and buy all the ingredients for what you want to cook. That will make it easier for your parents, and it will give you exercise too! Best of both worlds. I make my wife clean after I cook ahah.

Five years from now, I will be…
Five years from now, I will be in high school and in training to ride horses. I will be jumping through courses with my horse in show jumping, smoothly moving hooves to the beat in dressage and facing any obstacle in cross country. Together me and my horse will work as a team and have a great bond between each other. I will keep in touch with some friends and family. I want to be an equestrian eventer because my dream is to be a professional equestrian when I grow up. I will go to pony camp and train there. I have watched so many videos about equestrian super stars. I would like to follow Jenifer Gates streak. I hope I can follow my dream the way I would like it to be. In five years, I hope to have a horse that I would name Bella if it was a mare and Storm if it was a stallion. In five years, I hope to ride at a ranch and make so much more friends. In five years, I hope to keep in touch with all the teachers I know. That is what I will be in five years.

Have you ridden a horse yet? If so, do you own a horse or have somewhere you will store it when you have a chance? I suggest you getting a Great Dane dog instead. That way it can live with you and hangout with you when you’re bored. Since it is so big, almost size of a mini horse, you can teach it to do tricks and jump and what not. I think you should bring back the Super Dogs at the PNE instead of doing the horse thing that Jenifer Gates did. I miss the cute dogs that were there during THE FAIR. Overall, I think I’m scared of horses and I feel like a dog would be a better choice! Or maybe I’m just a little baby and need to face my fears and just ride a horse already. At least I like country music, so that’s a start to liking horses and living on a farm/in the country!

Why I will I work for Mcdonalds well I want to work for Mcdonalds because the gives you money for a 14 year old l like my Dad said and because my Dad worked for Mcdonalds. I want to work for Mcdonalds because you get a lot of jobs for like making ice cream moping making hamburgers and talking when people order. When I work and a family comes like my mom and dad sister Mia come I will give them free chicken strips or fries and maybe on a hot day I might give them ice cream. I will have to work for a long time and I might have to work at night and I have to make breakfast lunch and dinner all by myself. At Mcdonalds I will lots of money and my Dad said you get to eat at Mcdonalds if you want or you can eat at home and bring it home for you and your family. I want to work for Mcdonalds because on hot days are the best because you can make ice cream and there is going to be a lot of customers and that means more money for you. Working for McDonalds would be so close to your home. You can head there after school and work a few hours before coming home for dinner. McDonalds is a great job because it will teach you how hard it is to earn money and to save every penny you can. My favourite job was working at an old’s folks home serving them breakfast, lunch and dinner. It was so much fun because they were nice to me and I made more money than my friends did doing chores. My parents taught me at a young age to work hard for things that I want in life. So ever since I was 15 I worked and bought everything for myself. Good for you Lazar!
In 5 years I will be 13 years old, so I will be a teenager. I would have graduated from Capitol Hill. I still don’t know which high school I will go to. Maybe I will join some art programs and grow more plants. I want to learn how to cook and bake. I might have a pet but I don’t know for sure if I am going to get a pet. I will be more independent in the next 5 years. I will get better at ice-skating and swimming. I want to explore some states in US. I am not allowed to use the hot glue gun now, but when I am older I can use it. I will probably get a bigger bike when I am older. I still want to ride my bike because riding on my bike is so much fun. But I really will miss Capitol Hill.
What kind of plants do you want to have in your ideal garden? What kind of pet do you want to get? I suggest a cute little Golden Retriever. They are a little bite-y at the beginning but they are so adorable. I hope in 5 years you will come visit your old teachers and tell us how well you are doing and what is new in your life
Five years from now I will be in grade nine. I will go to Burnaby North high-school. There will be a new building there and my brother Justin and cousin Harry will be in the same school. I will join the swim team, track, cross-country, and the marching band or the school musical. I will also still be in the Burnaby Mountain Mantas competitive swim team. I will be a volunteer coach.
Do you currently play any instruments? I think you will be playing hockey and joining the Burnaby North Hockey academy. I think you should volunteer for the Baracuddas. Do you know a lot of people at that swim club?
No but my brother Justin plays the clarinet and he started playing it in grade seven.

Five years from now, I will want to be an artist. I choose to be an artist because I want to get better at the thing
I’ m not so good at which is sketching. Another reason I choose art is because I like most types of crafts mostly pottery but I like origami too. I would like to be good at art so that I can make a masterpiece. I also would like to be able to make a nice sculpture to decorate the house.
I’m not very good at painting but I like to draw. Something that I need to get better at too is sketching real life people. I think that once COVID is over, you should enrol in some art classes at Shadbolt Centre where you can learn different forms of art.

Etsy is a company that helps small businesses sell things. I think you should start recreating old arcade games using new platforms and controllers. I think if you remade the “Microsoft pinball game” or some of the older Pokemon games for a newer console, that would be so cool! They sort of did it with the relaunch of the original Nintendo but since then, I feel like they haven’t created more games or what not.

In five years I will be in high school. I think I am going to Burnaby North and I would be 14 years old. I think Niko and Evan will be going to Burnaby North too but I know for sure that my brother is going too. I am hoping I will get smart and not bullied. I am not sure if I will see my brother in the school because there is so many people, he has class and that I have class.
I don’t think he will have the same class as you but maybe he can be a peer tutor or what not? I think you’ll be okay in high school because when you have an older sibling there, it is way easier to make friends, especially if they have a younger sibling too!
In 5 year’s, time I’ll be at Alpha High School but Goergia won’t be there. Also, I’ll be playing ice hockey at the Canadian champion level. I will still play ball hockey but not as much as ice hockey. I may be doing French class at High School; I hope I’ll be playing on big golf courses with Daddy because I like playing golf. NO GIRL FRIEND!! I’ll have a dog that’s name is Chunky and I’ll still sleep on the same bed in my room in the same house because I want to live with Mamma and she thinks I’m going to live here for 70 years.
I think you should join the Burnaby Bulldogs for ice hockey. Don’t do what I did and wait till I was 24 to learn how to skate and play hockey. Maybe by the time you’re 18 you’ll be so good that you make it professional and then you can give Mrs. Armstrong and I a brand new car! What do you think?
