Inferences

Everyday, without realizing it, you are making inferences from pictures you see, interactions you have with other people, text that you read, anything that you observe really. Taking your observations and combining them with what you already know or have experienced in your life, helps you to infer or draw conclusions. Asking yourself, “What is happening here and why do I think this” leads you to an inference. Here is a couple of pictures that I would like you to have a close look at and tell what you infer and why. What did you observe and wonder to help you come to your inference?

  1. In the first picture I think there is a hurricane that has destroyed their whole house. You could see the houses falling apart and everything destroyed. They don’t even have shoes on which tells you that they had to go out the house immediately. They must be very worried and frightened, because they just lost their whole house and belongings.I’m sure on the other hand, they are also relieved that they survived. In the second picture it looks like the guy just fell of his bike because he was multitasking and trying to hold a umbrella and ride a bike. You could also tell it was sudden because of his facial expression,he probable feels scared and frustrated. His legs are also tangled up in the bike which means he fell of the bike.Thank you for putting up these pictures to make me think out of the box about these pictures Mrs.Mann.

  2. My inference for the first image is that there was a flood. My clues were that there was water knee high and a house was tipped to the side. I think the three guys are trying to get out of the flood because they are all walking away from the house and they look frazzled.
