Community Gatherings

Community gatherings are a regular aspect of school life at Twelfth Avenue. We show our care for one another, share our learning, and practice how to be presenters and audience members. Music is an important part of our gatherings.

O Canada

We begin each community gathering with “O Canada”.

The anthems of Canada can be found here.

A virtual performance by Revv52 of Calgary, Alberta can be found here.

Another virtual performance by The Tenors can be found here.

Coast Salish Anthem

The Coast Salish Anthem (Chief Dan George Prayer Song) is an authentic First Nations song of the Tseil wau-tuth, whose traditional territories we are on. This is a chant. The words do not have meaning; they convey feeling. The song is meant to be meditative and grounding.

Learn to Live Together

Along with PBS (Positive Behaviour Support) presentations, our PBS song reminds us that behaviour expectations throughout the school make it better place to be.

We got to learn to live together in peace and harmony,

‘Cause treatin’ one another like a sister or a brother begins with you and me.

Performances

Community gatherings come alive when we share our learning in and through the performing arts.
