Trip to Beecher Creek and surprise visitors!

Today we headed off to Beecher Creek! It was such a beautiful adventure. We found mushrooms, small “fairy doors” inside very old and majestic cedar trees, and we also found a lot of really large sticks! Please enjoy the photos and short videos below. Most of the photos were kindly shared by Ella’s Mom, Dee, and Riku’s Mom, Hiromi, whom we are so grateful to have had join us today!

Our journey begins with a short walk to the large “fairy door” that will take us to Beecher Creek.

It’s a tradition to have Ms Allanson hop through the door first to make sure everything is safe. Here is rare, never before seen footage of what happens when Ms Allanson takes the leap! Click on the link below!

We make our way down to the creek, cross a bridge, and head down a treelined path.

It’s important to always take time to look up! You never know what magic you might be missing!

We wondered, how many tree branches could there be? Could we spy a bird’s nest now that all of the leaves were gone?

Once we arrived at our main exploration space, next to a family of large cedar trees, we began to investigate the area!

We found sticks, large and small.

We found a cozy nest.

Nathan found two sticks that could be turned into a circle!

Logs and mud were a popular combination!

Leaves of all shapes and sizes were all over the ground. We wondered what made the unique holes in this leaf?

This tree stump had a large cut out space that was very interesting to look closely at.

And mushrooms were everywhere!

Did I mention that we found sticks?!?

Ms. Allanson wondered if we could build a shelter using the large sticks, which we realized were actually large broken tree branches. It took a lot of teamwork, but we were able to move several large branches to begin to create a shelter.

So much joy was felt as we spent time in the forest. I wonder what we will discover on our next trip?

Our day ended with a surprise visit from our neighbours, the 3 year old class from Brentwood Preschool. They rang our door bell and sang some songs with us so that they could “share the love” with their community!

It was such a lovely, very busy, exciting day in Div. 26!

Love,

Ms Allanson
