L is for LETTERS, M is for MOVIE & N is for NOTES
L ~ We wrote LETTERS to next year’s class, giving them the low down on what it means to be in Miss Watt’s class. Miss Watt will be sharing them with her new students in September!
M ~ After singing the songs from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Mrs. Little showed us the MOVIE along with the other Grade 2s & 3s.
Thanks for the treat Mrs. Little!
N ~ We created cards & wrote NOTES inside for our Dads for Father’s Day.
I know your dads
will LOVE them!

H is for HAT & K is for KERNELS
H ~ We’ve been lucky to have a few amazing sunny days, so we wore our HATS to protect us from the hot rays of the sun.
K ~ KERNELS of popcorn
We popped some popcorn in a couple old fashioned hot air popcorn poppers, so cool to see it close up instead of waiting outside a microwave!

J is for JUMPY SCIENCE
J ~ JUMPY Poppin Rockets! Science with baking soda & vinegar!
We created a chemical reaction in a film canister! The vinegar reacts with the baking soda and produces carbon dioxide gas. Pressure builds up until the small canister can no longer contain the gas. The lid pops off, the canister shoots up into the air, the gas escapes, and the pressure is released.

I is for ICKY SCIENCE
(click on the picture for a bigger view)
I ~ ICKY messy fun with Oobleck! Science with cornstarch & water!
Oobleck is a non-newtonian fluid. That is, it acts like a liquid when being poured, but like a solid when a force is acting on it. You can grab it and then it will ooze out of your hands.
Oobleck gets its name from the Dr. Seuss book Bartholomew and the Oobleck where a gooey green substance, Oobleck, fell from the sky and wreaked havoc in the kingdom.

E ~ Jujubes, M&Ms, Jelly Beans, Sours… Count the Candies!!

After all the Guessing Jar estimates had been counted, the winners were announced the next morning. Drumroll please………
Angie, Jagjot, Kihan & Owen had the closest estimates!
Well done to all Division 8 students for their excellent estimates! Can’t wait to enjoy the candies at another Alphabet Countdown day very soon…
