Scholastic Book Club

Hello Families!
September/October’s Scholastic Book Club magazine came home on Friday. If you would like to purchase a book for your child, please fill out and return the attached paper along with a cheque (made out to Stephanie James as Scholastic does not accept cheques) or cash and I will pay for our class order each month on my credit card (combined orders above $40.00 are not charged shipping fees).

If you already have or would like to create an account on the Scholastic website, please feel free to order online using our Class Code RC190781. Please also choose the ‘Ship to School’ option in shipping as you will not be charged shipping for your order.

The Book Club magazine will be coming home every couple months and is totally optional.

Shoes! 👟

Division 11 families,
Please ensure your child has shoes to wear in the gym and in the classroom on rainy days. Boots are not allowed in the gym and it keeps our classroom cleaner during rainy days. Thank you so much! Any questions, please ask!

Where Am I? is a weekly Canadian geography question that will posted in our classroom and on our website. Questions will be posted on Monday mornings, students can submit answers during the week and a name will be drawn to win a prize on Thursday mornings after Calendar. Number of the Week

Each week 3-4 clues to a number are posted both in the classroom and on this website. Clues to a new number will be posted each week on Friday morning. You will have the opportunity to submit your answer in our classroom before Monday’s Calendar time. One correct answer will be pulled out of a hat for a prize and then we’ll work together on additional math activities in the classroom based on the number.

BOGGLE

Meet our classroom Boggle Board!
Boggle encourages you to make as many words as you can from a random assortment of letters. This Boogle Board will be updated weekly with a new set of 16 letters. Here is a copy of our classroom Boggle sheet. Print one off for you and a family member. Compete against a sibling or parent and see how many words you can make! Sheets are also available on our Calendar board for you to work on alone or compete against your friends. Have fun!!

Student Led Conferences

Wednesday April 15th is Nelson’s annual Student Led Conferences. I cannot wait as it’s my favourite time of the year in our classroom. I love to see the pride and excitement the kids have when sharing their work with their family.
Please come visit our classroom between 2:05-4:00 or 5:00-6:00. The classroom will be closed for a dinner break from 4:00-5:00. You will be read to, presented work, shown around the classroom and asked to play a game. Please come ready to celebrate your child’s achievements.
This will be completely led by your child and not a time to discuss their progress. I would be happy to meet with you at another time to discuss their report card or behaviour.
If possible, please do not bring younger children so the focus can be on the child sharing.
