Enjoy your Spring Break!

As we continue to receive updates from our school district, I would like to share some ideas for some fun activities we could do with the kids. The weather is beautiful and amazing, but if and when it rains and you are stuck at home, there are some fun things your kids could do. Here is a couple of links which I hope you will find helpful. 🙂

House Teams

Our students are getting ready for our annual Sports Day. This year  our theme is Space. Our first House Teams meeting took place on January 17 and students chose the following names for their house teams: Red Swirling Nebulae, Blue Freezing Neptunes, Black InevitableGalaxies, and Green Cosmis Aliens.

On Thursday, January 30, we will have a Spirit Day. Since it is a Literacy Week at Armstrong, our student leaders  decided that to earn points for your house team, stuents should dress as their favourite book characters or they can bring their favourite books.

Armstrong Winter Concert

Our intermediate students helped our school to have a lot of fun around Halloween time by performing for the whole school.

Now it is the primary students’ turn to zhare our skills and give back to our community by preparing some fun Holiday performances.

We are going to have a Winter Concert on December 18. It will take place in the Gym at 1:30 and 6:30. Our division is going to sing “Santa Got Stuck in the Chimney” and a finale song.

Here’s a link to “When Santa Got Stuck Up the Chimney” song:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhRL7xlDJIE

Angel Project at Armstrong

Our school is once again participating in the Holiday Angel Project. This project is an opportunity to support families and help them bring more joy to their kids during the Holidays. If your family would like to participate, your child will bring a card home which will have some info about a child for whom you can donate a toy. All the toys collected at our school will go to the Burnaby Christmas Bereau’s Toy Drive.

West Coast Recess

Dear Families,

Kids love rain and it rains a lot in Vancouver. Playing in the puddles is a lot of fun!  A lot of kids get wet during Recess and Lunch breaks. Please send your kids to school in rubber boots and rain jackets on rainy days. At least one set of a change of clothes should stay at school (three pairs of socks, two airs of pants and a shirt). Wet and/or dirty clothes will be sent home.

Please find detailed information about the West-Coast Recess on our school website.

Thank you,

Ms. S.   🙂
