Intro

Hello.  At SFU, I wrote a research paper that explores the old debate regarding the value of homework!  After spending six hours of the day in school, children are typically given additional assignments to be completed at home. There are those who feel children are overburdened with homework!   There are parents and teachers who feel pressed to improve achievement.

Polls ask if students are assigned the right amount of homework.  But opinions cannot tell us whether homework works. Only research can.  My paper (which is too long to include here) looks at the leading researcher on homework (Harris Cooper), as well as the most outspoken critic of homework (Alfie Kohn) in an effort to answer, “Is homework too much of a bad thing?”
