  • Hiking is not a new experience for me, but I did find this trail long, steep, and difficult. The view and beach at the bottom was worth it! Or so I thought until I had to make the hour trek back to base! My ankles and knees ached, I had to sit down a few times because my face felt so hot and flushed. Good thing I had my water bottle with me. I ended up being the last one back. I was surprised my students were so fast and ahead of me! Thank goodness Mr. Martin led the way and is very physically fit. I would recommend this Jug Island hike to anyone who likes to push themselves to the limit and enjoys nature walks. It was nice to see my students enjoying the beach, water, and wildlife. I wish we had had more than 15 minutes at the beach, but alas we left half an hour too late! I’m not so sure I would push next year’s class to do this hike–let’s see the responses I get from the current adventurers!

  • I have never tried hiking before, so this is my first time. At first, I thought the track would not take a while, but I was wrong. About halfway through, I realized that my water bottle somehow spilled inside my backpack and I only had a little less than half the bottle left. Despite that, I kept going, and at the island now, everything looks fantastic. I really enjoyed my time there. But sadly, we had to leave a bit earlier than I would have liked. On the way back, I was so proud of myselft for bringing a folding fan. Without it, I might have gotten a heatstroke. If the next year’s class were to hike here, they would need to be very strong to survive this mountain’s annihilation, because I didn’t.

    • I wish there was a water drinking pipe at Jug Island so people could refill their water bottle. I’m so pleased to hear that you thought the destination was fantastic. The photo I took of you there with the big smile on your face says you appreciated it. Thank you for your comment. You’re a fantastic writer! I’m delighted to have you join our class, if even for just this month of June. By the way, BC has lots of hiking trails. I hope you discover them and enjoy the natural beauty.

  • Hiking isn’t a new experience I have done it many times before, just not in that heat. although experiencing it with friends made it more fun than if you were to do it by your self.
After this hike I felt like I could drink a whole lake, also it was very hot so the watermelon at the end of the hike tasted so amazing.
I would recommend it to my family because they like hikes and it was a pretty trail so i think they would definitely like it.
The only thing that surprised me was the first hill on the way back, it was super steep and was hard to get up it but eventually it was easy from then on.

  • Hiking is not a new experience to me. I’ve hiked many times with my family on different trails in summer.
Hiking to Jug Island took pretty long and it was very tiring, but after we were done, I didn’t feel tired whatsoever which was pretty strange. I wouldn’t recommend this hike though as it’s very hard and tiering but it’s a nice place to hike. There are a lot of downs and ups and parts that are very steep. There was nothing that surprised me.

  • Hiking is not a new experience. Mom and I like hiking so we went hiking a lot in our trip to South Korea. I felt extremely tired and exhausted after the hike. If I were to recommend this hike, I would recommend it to my mom because she likes hiking and walking. I would also recommend it to my dad because he would like going hiking with me. They would both like the exercise. I was surprised of how long and difficult the hike was. Overall, the hike was both fun and exhausting.

  • Q1. Not really, I have past experience via camping trips and other outings in BC’s forests.
Q2. To be frank, I relieved the hike was over. I can do hiking, but on a warm day up a steep hill, it should be a little exhausting, no matter who’s hiking.
Q3. I would recommend this hike for people who like stairs, heat, and a little rock climbing, or anyone wanting to train their stamina.
Q4. Not much, a hike is a hike.

  • Q1. Yes, hiking is a new experience for me.
Q2. After the hike, I felt tired and warm.
Q3. If I could recommend it to someone, I would recommend it to anyone who loves walking, nature, and the sea. They would love the view of the sea.
Q4. I’m surprised that the hike took that long. I imagined it would take no longer then 30 mins to go and to get back.

  • Hiking is a new experience for me. After this hike I felt, flushed and very hot. I would recommend this hike to anyone who likes long hikes and nature walks. What surprised me was how long the hike was and how steep it was at some parts.

  • Hiking wasn’t a new experience for me since I did hiking when I was in Korea.
After the hike, I was really tired and very thirsty.
If I were to recommend the hike to someone, I would recommend it to my mom since she likes to go on walks and she likes nature.
Something that surprised me was how long it was.

  • Hiking is not a new experience for me because I do it with my mother.
After the hike I felt tired, thirsty because I had NO water during the hike and and cool because I wanted to feel cool. I would probably recommend this hike to my mother because she likes nature and going on long hikes. I was surprised that there was no water at Jug Island but other than that I wasn’t surprised.

  • Is hiking a new experience to me? no I’ve went hiking many times like 2 years ago with my family to be outdoors. After this hike I fell to the floor and didn’t get up for five minuets I was so exhausted. I would not recommend this hike it was challenging at points and very long. What surprised me was how tiering it was. Finding crabs was kinda cool and skipping rocks, of course, because I like skipping rocks.

  • Hiking is not a new experience because I went on multiple hikes before, but this one was the hardest. After the hike, I felt proud that I was able to finish the hike with some of my friends.
I would recommend the hike to my family because they like exploring the nature, and I think they would try doing it.
I was surprised because it was harder and longer than I expected, so I was tired when we finished.

  • Yes, the hiking experience is new to me, but I did not enjoy it because I had no training for it and I would not recommend it to beginners. Also the hiking experience is new to me because I have never done it before and would like to never do again, cause I hate walking.

I felt tired and a little annoyed because my ankle got hurt when we were at jug island so the walk back was miserable, also while I was on the trail, I got left by myself because my ankle started to hurt badly, also I was extremely tired after the hike.

First off I wouldn’t recommend this trail to anyone I know because personally I hated it, so I wouldn’t recommend this trail to anyone.

Nothing really surprised me, because I wasn’t really paying attention.

  • Hiking is a new experience for me but I have done walks in the forest when I was younger so I did enjoy it. After the hike my knees hurt me and I was very tired. On the walk back I had to sit down a few times, but the walk to the lake felt longer than the walk back. I would recommend this hike to someone who enjoys hiking and climbing steep pathways, also someone who enjoys beaches and enjoys the process and end result of things. I think they would enjoy the scenery especially and the trail is surprisingly clean with little to no litter, which I thought was a plus. The thing that surprised me was how long the hike was and the climbing we had to do. Often there were large rocks in the path so we had to climb over the rocks which was fun but a bit scary too. Overall it was an enjoyable hike that I would recommend to next years class.

  • 1. Hiking is not a new experience for me because I go hiking with my dad sometimes, so I am used to it.
    2. After this hike I don’t feel any strong emotions towards this hike.
    3. If would recommend this hike to someone else it would be my father. I would recommend this to my father because he likes hiking and nature, so I feel like he would enjoy this.
    4. What surprised me was the amount of people that were energetic the whole hike.

  • Hiking is not a new experience for me. I have hiked before once.
I felt tired after the hike.
I wouldn’t recommend it to someone who can’t walk for a long time.
I was surprised that some parts were steep and there was a lot of stairs.

  • I’ve hiked a lot before, even when I was younger. This was my first time hiking with my classmates, because I hiked with my cousins and family friends most of the time. Also, I’ve never hiked without an adult going there and back. It felt intimidating since there wasn’t supervision, and the sound of the forest kind of freaked me out. This was my last hike in Canada ever, before moving to the U.S., so I’ll miss these forests here. I felt relieved after this hike because I knew I wouldn’t walk that long anymore. The beach felt so calming, the water and the mountains in the back. I realized that I had chips in my fanny pack, so I started eating it at the beach to energize myself.

There was a lot of rocks, sand, and animals too.
I saw a live jellyfish in the water, my friends told me about it and one of them wanted to use my phone to take a photo of it. I got kind of scared for my phone, I didn’t want it to get dropped. When I used my phone to view the images, I really loved it. The jellyfish looked so orange, like the orange fruit. It mostly looked like orange jello though.
I took my phone out and started taking photos of crabs I saw, and the crab pond my friends were holding. They were so tiny and so cute! I hope I get to see those again when I move. I can remember the time I accidentally killed my cousin’s crab in Nanaimo and a funeral to flush it down the toilet.
R.I.P. Mr. Sirbagelsalot, our favourite crab.

I felt like taking my shoes off to go in the water, but I changed my mind because I didn’t want my feet to be dirty and I was too tired to even clean my feet. I just really loved the view of the beach.

I would recommend this hike to people who think they need more exercise and people who just like walking. If you don’t like sore legs and getting tired, I wouldn’t recommend it. To me, it was pretty fun even though I felt like something stabbed my legs! Well, some parts were so steep, I kind of got terrified about the fact I would trip on the rocks and roots of the trees.

The jellyfish surprised me, I didn’t expect to see a live, wild jellyfish in a rocky beach! It looked majestic too, and it was cute. It was my first time seeing a wild, live jellyfish.

  • Hiking isn’t a new experience for me because I have gone hiking before with my family. So this isn’t my first time. After the hike I felt very tired and exhausted because we walked for a long time and my knees stared to hurt. I would recommend it to some who love hiking and someone who has gone on hikes before and also someone who loves nature. If you love nature you would enjoy it very much, because it had a very beautiful environment and also when we came near the water it was very nice too. I recommend it to someone who had hiked before is because it was a pretty hard hike, but if you would like to try hiking it would be a great experience at Jug Island. I was surprised how beautiful the nature and the water was, but I was also surprised how long of a hike it was. Overall I loved the hike to Jug Island.

  • Hiking is not a new experience because I all ready went hiking before but it was hard. I felt great after the hike because its getting exercise. I would recommend it to my sister Zaria because she would like it and she liked it because she would get lots of exercise. The thing that surprised me was that it was hard and long and it was nice.

  • Hiking is not a new experience for me, I have done a way longer hike with my family, it started off with a long straight path, then it gradually went into a rocky path with a river beside it. What I recall, the hike I went with my family felt way longer than the hike to Jug Island but less tiring. After the the hike to Jug Island, other people were already packing to go and going to the school bus so it felt somewhat relieving because the day is almost over but also at the same time it was really exhausting and tiring to pack up. I would definitely recommend this park to my older brother and my dad. My brother loves to exercise and everyday he walks around my neighborhood more than once everyday. My dad also made my family hike a few times in the past for exercise, so he will most likely love the hike to Jug Island! I got surprised that I was able to catch up with the guide while I carried my friends backpack the whole way. It made me feel accomplished somehow and proud.

  • Is hiking a new experience for you? Why or why not?
No because my mom would force me to go on hikes.

How did you feel after this hike?
    I don’t know.
But other than that, I liked the cold water and jellyfish

If you were going to recommend this hike to someone else, who would it be? What would that person like about it?
Next year’s class because they seem to be enjoying the hike and the beach.

    What surprised you?
It surprised me that my legs weren’t sore after the hike because during the hike, my legs were burning.

    • It surprised me that my legs weren’t sore after the hike because during the hike, my legs were burning.

  • In my 12yrs of living this was definitely the worst hike I’ve ever done. >:-/ I mean the nature was really nice, along with that I saw a snake. It was really creepy I wouldn’t want to be bitten! It wasn’t that bad as soon as we reached the beach, but the rest of the experience was horrible! The rocks were so crunchy on my feet 🙁 And the hike took like 2hrs! I felt relieved when we finished the hike 🙂 The jelly fish at the beach was very jiggly and I saw a ton of crabs, tiny ones. I found sea glass. I love sea glass.

    Ratito 🙂

  • Hiking is not a new experience for me because I went hiking 2 summers ago. After the hike I felt super tired because I don’t normally go on hikes. If I were to recommend this hike to someone I’d recommend it to my aunt since she really enjoys going on hikes and there was a lot of places during the hike I think she would’ve loved to take pictures of. I didn’t really find anything surprising.

  • Q1. Hiking is not a new experience for me I have been hiking since I was little I go about every month

Q2. It was fine I’ve been to jug island before I enjoyed it for the most part

    Q3. ?

Q4. nothing because I’ve been there before

  • I’ve never tried hiking with a long trail. There is my first time I tried hiking with a long trail. After the hike I felt very very tired after this hike because I need to walk to the slopes. I’ve a water bottle but in the trail it got lost and I feel very thirsty. But throughout the trail I see a beautiful view with ocean and mountain and I see some things strange with me . I see some wild animal in the beach. But it made me have a pleasant experience. I think it’s a jelly fish because it’s not shy to me.
