Liquid Experiment

We had a blast predicting which liquid would slide down faster, we learned that thicker liquids move slower than thinner (more watery) liquids. It was so much fun chanting and cheering for which one was going to win!

The Gruffalo Play

As a class, we turned The Gruffalo into a play!

Here is what we did:

  1. got into our groups and picked our characters! (teachers made the groups, but the kids used their communication skills to decide who was going to play which role – they did great!)
  2. made our masks to match our characters
  3. learn what a script is, and highlighted our lines
  4. practiced, practiced and practiced
  5. On Ms. Manky’s last day we performed our play with her support and guidance

Ewwy Gooey Slime

We had a blast last week making slime for our science experiments. We have been investigating different properties of matter. Lots of our slime looked and felt different, we even thought we were going to run out of ingredients but we discovered that the sooner we got messy and dipped our hands in to mix, the faster the ingredients turned into slime.

Some questions we had:

Why did some slime take longer to make?

Why does theirs feel different to mine?

Why does my colour look like that?

Some describing words we heard:

slippery, beautiful, hard, soft, light, bouncy, gooey, too wet, etc.

Rain Cloud in a Jar

Students are learning to predict, observe, and explain.

Here they are predicting how many drops it will take to rain through their shaving cream cloud. Next, they observe what happens to see how their predictions are. And last, they begin to explain what they have observed.
