We have a fun week in store for us!  Amidst our regularly scheduled activities, we have PUMPKINS arriving on Wednesday to make our very own Kitchener Pumpkin Patch! Please remember to send your child with a Toonie to help us cover the costs.  We will then be doing some very fun pumpkin math, and story writing as well as continuing with our inquiry questions about pumpkins.  On Friday, we hope to carve the pumpkins and experience first hand the insides and hopefully answer some of our questions. Parents and other adult family members are encouraged to help us out Friday afternoon for the carving fun. We have the tools, we just need the helpers 🙂

As well, we are preparing for our field trip to the Vancouver Art Gallery (Wednesday Nov. 7).  We are exploring the works of Robert Davidson, BC Binnings, and Emily Carr, to name a few. These artists all communicated what they saw through different art media and perspectives. The notice has gone home and is due back this Friday.

When reading with your child, ask them to tell you more about what they are thinking, and what it reminds them of, to help prompt them to make connections between the text and what they already know.  This will help them develop their reading comprehension skills.

A notice is going home today to let you know more about our learning this term. Thanks, and always feel free to email us or comment below on our blog if you have any thoughts or questions.  Soon we hope to add students as guest bloggers.
