Feb. 21 professional day for teachers

| Posted in Current events, First Nations, The Scientists corner

Did you wonder what teachers do? With the help of Elaine Jaltema I led a session where teachers got to learn about smarter science, and hands on exploration for students. One group used our supplies to create what the called the psychedelic tornado. image

In the afternoon I was able to hear more first hand stories of residential school experiences. These people demonstrate such sincere strength of their spirits. Very moving. This helped me to better understand how important my job is to build awareness of our shared histories.image

One thing I learned was how to share thoughts, ideas, and pictures on twitter, and in the process I found lots of wonderful interesting information. Social media can be a powerful tool for learning.

The tornado’s really cool! You should show that experiment along with many other cool experiments with us!

I will for sure! I’m glad you are curious about it. How do you think we did it?

the water tornado is cool! I’ve tried it when I was 6. I could make one at home and share to the class. What about doing natural disasters for science in term 3? that would be cool!

I feel sorry for the kids who have to go to residential schools. Then on the other hand, I am mad at the law and who passed the law that kids have to go to the residential schools.

  6. Jacie Ru says:

Who made the law of children having to go to residential schools, and why?

    1. crambl says:

This is a really great question! The government of Canada made the law.
