Week of April 14th-17th

Hi Division 5,

How was your long weekend?  Did you get to do any Easter Activities?

I’ve noticed many of you worked on your lessons and some of you drew amazing Easter pictures!  I really enjoyed reading your posts and looking at your artwork!

Families, please take some time to read through a document that was shared by the district regarding digital citizenship and responsibilities. Thank you!

Digital Responsibility Guidelines

This week, here are some activities I’d like to you try and keep working on:

    • Read 10-15 minutes on Epic Books each day (you can read more if you want). Please only choose your own account/avatar.  DO NOT change other students’ profile.  Thank you!
    • Practice 10-15 minutes on Prodigy each day (you can practice more if you want)
    • Complete lesson 2 in Science (lessons are posted on the Science page)
    • Complete lesson 2 in Data Analysis  (lessons are posted on the Numeracy page)
    • Complete this week’s Spelling lesson (lessons posted on Spelling page)
    • Check out Mrs. Araujo’s Read Aloud Episode 2
    • Check out Mrs. Fierro’s Music Blog and complete week of April 6th Music Lessons (Complete both Grade 2/3 and Grade 4/5 lessons). And you can practice the songs you played during our last Christmas concert (Christmas Recorder Songs)
    • Complete 1 reader’s response in your BlogFolio (Read a book, is it fiction or non-fiction? What is the title? Who is the author? What was the book about? What did you learn? Did you make any connections? Anything interesting about the book?)
    • Art:  This week, lets work on drawing some Spring flowers!  Try to follow some of these videos:

We are starting week three of online learning.  I hope you and your family have established some daily routines.  Continue to talk to your family and find some time to complete your lessons and activities, read on Epic Books, and practice on Prodigy. Remember, you don’t have to finish everything at once.  You can work on the activities through out the week and submit them a bit at a time.

To show your work, you will need to post it on your BlogFolio.  If you are posting photos or videos, it is best to use your portable devices (smartphones, tablets, or iPads).  If you forgot how to post, you can check out these instructions. I will check your posts regularly and comment on them.  If you need more help with how to post or log on to the programs, ask your family to email me at Shirley.cheung@burnabyschools.ca

Happy Learning!

Ms. Yapp
