    1. She did not know how to get there
    2. She had to create a new web soon

2. Journal Writing (15 minutes)

For your journal writing, I want you to write down your answers by adding a comment to this blog post so I can see it.

Topic: School Rules. If you could make a new school rule, what would it be?

Example: The one rule that I would like to change is the ‘hat rule.’ I think this rule is silly because I always wear a hat, whether I’m at home, going out for run, or if I’m going out to Glenburns for a strawberry ice-cream sundae. Just like how glasses have become a part of my appearance, a hat is too. There is no Mr. Wu, without him with glasses and a hat. Another reason why I dislike the hat rule is because I’m getting old and my hair is starting to fall out. I know that because I’m wearing hats too much, it has sped the process of me balding, but now I am FORCED to wear it because I have no more hair on my head. Yikes. Lastly, I think that hats should be allowed because we are always being told in school to put our “thinking caps” on … well, here is the chance for everyone to make their own ‘thinking hats’ and actually wear it.

3. PE: Sweat Away Stress Workout

Have a good workout! On Thursday I’ll be doing a Zoom workout with you at 1:00pm. Stay tuned for the invite!

Hello Mr.Wu i have a question are we doing the read aloud today or is it on Tuesday???

  2. Sarah says:

I have a question. Do we have to make a “thinking hat”or not?

  3. Lazar says:

    Good morning Mr. Wu

For school rules I offer free time. For example, if you get a A+ on work you get outside time, if it is raining you can play inside like Chess or Checkers or other fun games. If you get a 2 in a row you get to watch a movie, play, or be awarded with sour keys and 3 in a row you get VIP. F- gets nothing but work and for A+ you get no homework and VIP you get no homework for a week. What if they have a hard day they get tiny break for maybe 5 minutes or less. And that is Mr. Wu for School rules today

    • wuj says:

Oh I like the trade-in system. It would be difficult to keep track I think. But also, we have moved away from the grading scale and are using the proficiency scale now. Thanks for the reply. And thank you for providing examples. That’s what I was looking for.

  4. Lauryn Chiu says:

    Hi Mr. Wu,

Do you have an approximate time for the zoom meeting?

  8. Lauryn Chiu says:

    New School Rules

If I were to make a new school rule, I would say…….. “Chewing Bubble Gum or regular gum is allowed in School.” Bubble gum is so fun to chew and blow bubbles. I think it would be fun to blow bubbles while trying to do math. I love bubble gum so maybe teachers can blow some too if they want. It would Be hilarious if everyone was chewing gum in front of the whole school. I would think and focus easier every day if I was chewing gum. Some kids love bubble gum so much!!! That’s my new school rule!

    Lauryn

    • wuj says:

Maybe one of the challenges this year can be “who can chew the biggest bubble gum bubble” … this might turn out well. What happens when ids just spit the gum on the floor and start putting it on furniture. I’m not going to clean that up, are you?

  9. Samantha🐶💕 says:

    Hi Mr. Wu,
for my Charlotte web my answers are:
.(1) Wilbur looked radiant, acted like some pig and try’ed to be terrific.
.(2) I think he did all that stuff so the audience would stay.
.(3) For question 3 it is true.
.(4)For question 4 it is false.
.(5) The answers for question 5 is b and c.

  10. Samskruthi says:

Topic: Make a new school rule
If I got to make a new school rule it probably will be going to the washrooms without teacher’s permission. Because sometimes you have to go to the washrooms in a hurry.

    • wuj says:

That is absolutely true. I think the bathroom rule is only for safety, but I can see how some children might be embarrassed or what not when wanting to go to the bathroom without having to ask to go.

  11. Adriano Farley says:

If I could make a rule it would be more recess time, because I can’t finish my snacks in time and I hate leaving my half-eaten snacks in my backpack. Sometimes it’s a good snack and I must wait to eat it at lunch time. Also, if we have more recess that means more playing, and who doesn’t like more play time. More time to play would make me happy because I like playing. There’s one more thing that is good that comes from more recess, exercise. Exercising helps loosen up your body and gets your heart pumping, that makes you healthy. So, more recess helps your body and your brain.

    • wuj says:

Don’t worry, when school is back I’ll help you eat your snacks. Great example when you explained that more recess = more exercise. This makes me want to let you all have more time outside. Good explanation sir.

  12. Logan Cheng says:

I would change the rule you have to go outside at recess because some kids have allergies outside and if a supervisor tells them to go outside they can’t say no so they go outside then they start sneezing and other symptoms of allergies. If that gets really bad they could get a allergic reaction and go to the Hospital. Another reason that disagree is if someone has to stay in and a supervisor see’s him then asked him to go outside but the teacher is gone so she can’t explain the kid might not be able to explain then the teacher gets mad at him when she finds unfinished work. Kids might be allergic to grass, pollen and other things outside and that is bad.

    • wuj says:

Great call! My allergies are really acting up right now too since I’m allergic to pollen. Who would supervise the kids who are supposed to be inside. What is the alternative to someone staying inside? Remember that teachers need a break to go to the bathroom, fill up on coffee, and then photocopy whatever they need. Great explanation!

  13. Ursula says:

    My new school rule
If I was the principal, I would set up a new rule that EVERYONE HAS A LOCKER!
Because it’s like a closet or a cloak room can put stuff in like high school and secondary school🏫⛪️🏭🕍.

    • wuj says:

I like that idea Ursula! Can you please organize a fundraiser to get the money to install these lockers? What would you do to raise money to get them?

  14. Meyri says:

for a new school rule i would put a Think Before You Speak rule because every body just talks whenever they want with out thinking what to say they just say what ever they want to say maybe they say some thing secret that their friend told them and they don’t want anybody know which will make them fight probably and teachers and parents don’t want that they want kindness and happiness because then child(ren) will say “mom dad nobody is playing with me” and that when you learn the right thing to do and maybe your friend(s) will forgive you or maybe they wouldn’t so think before you speak.

    • wuj says:

Should we use this rule in our class meeting? Yes telling secrets is not a nice thing at all. Thinking before you speak is important for adults too because if we say something without thinking we can hurt people’s feelings. Great examples given!

  15. Roman says:

Topic: School Rule. If you could make a new school rule, what would it be?

    Answer:
I would eliminate the West Coast Recess and say that if its pouring rain, then we stay inside. The reason for this is so kids don’t get cold and sick. So kids have more time inside to play. Then kids would not come inside the classroom drenched and dirty.

    • wuj says:

I think it is a myth that you can catch the cold from being cold or wet. However, I do agree that when it is cold and wet outside I don’t like going out either to supervise. I guess I need to invest in an umbrella. Can you give me an example of what we can do instead if kids don’t go outside for recess?

  16. Tina k says:

The one rule that I would like to change is to make recess optional. I think recess should be optional because some people don’t like playing when it is rainy.
Maybe some people don’t like playing in hot temperatures or when it is too sunny so they can stay inside.
I think it is better if we have an optional recess so that if you get tired you don’t have to go inside. It is fair if we choose whether we want to go outside or stay inside.

    • wuj says:

I would like this rule too. I don’t like standing outside in the wet and cold weather supervising. I wonder if there can be indoor supervisors as well as outdoor supervisors. Or maybe there will be different lunch time clubs we can join, where we can go to that instead of outside all the time.

  17. Lazar says:

    1)Wilbur did a back flip

    2) so people are not board

    3) True

    4) False

    5) 3

  18. Sarah says:

I would change the hot lunch rule of not having chocolate milk. Chocolate milk is not that unhealthy. It is around the some as regular white milk. Lots of people like chocolate milk better then regular white milk. I personally think that that rule should have been changed a long time ago. I like chocolate milk but I also like regular white milk. Wich nod do you like better chocolate milk or white milk?

    • wuj says:

I agree with this idea. I think the reason why we don’t serve it all the time is because it is much more expensive to purchase. I think the hot lunch is on a budget, since we have to feed so many people at school. What do you think? Do you think parents will pay more money to get the chocolate milk? Do you think the extra money is worth it?

  19. Liam says:

Hi Mr. Wu If there is a few rules that I would change it would be recess because when you play soccer in the rain it is really muddy and if the ball goes to a puddle it make it might get some people wet. Other rule that I would change it would be when our voice in the classroom is too loud you give us two chances and if the third one comes we have to clean up and then you could give us calm music. The last rule you that I would change it would be if you don’t finish your homework in time and if is lunch time we could give the paper to you and then after lunch and we come in we could do that or do it for homework

    • wuj says:

I agree. I hate going out to supervise in the rain or snow or when it is cold outside. I like your idea of calm music. And lastly, I like the homework rule. Instead of making it as a punishment, maybe you can have a choice whether you want to finish it at recess, lunch or after school. Maybe sometimes people can’t finish it on time because they are stuck and no one is there to help out.

  20. Logan Cheng says:

My favourite ice cream is Mint Chocolate. The reasons that I like mint chocolate is that Mint smells really good and tastes really good. The chocolate is good but I can’t remember what it smells like because I have not eaten it much anymore. When you mix them together they taste even better then when they are separate but I can’t have ice cream now because of the covid-19. I can still have popsicles and ice cream sandwich so that is good. I used to have root beer ice cream. It was pretty cool for me because I can’t have root beer. I think that is one of my favourite ice cream too.

  21. Jacob says:

Topic: School Rules. If you could make a new school rule, what would it be?

My new rule for school would be you don’t have to do that much work. I don’t like to do
that much work. I get bored and tired. If you don’t finish your work then you have to stay inside to finish your work. It’s not fair if the other kids get to go outside. You can miss a lot of things and free time which I like a lot better than doing work. I enjoy P.E. , outside, free time, and fun activities not school work.
